As it’s not always easy to find a local gaming group, a number of applications (some free, others that you’ll have to pay for) are available now that will allow you to play roleplaying games (in real-time) over the internet. I have therefore given the maps and tiles that follow a particular ‘pixel size per square’ so that they can be loaded into such programs (assuming the software has a map feature), as well as being used in the conventional manner.

I myself have only used the free OpenRPG virtual tabletop, so the instructions that follow are geared toward that (though I assume other such applications opperate in much the same manner).

All of these maps have been designed so that each individual grid square will equal 20x20 pixels or 35x35 pixels (the relevant size is noted above). All this means is that you will need to set your map window to a grid size of either 20 or 35 - depending on which size of maps you are using.

To do this, you simply need to click on the ‘grid’ tab in the map window and change the ‘size’ field to 20 or 35 and then hit ‘apply’. Note that you may also like to turn the grid off (as a grid has already been incorporated into the maps themselves) - to do this change ‘solid lines’ to ‘no lines’ in the pull down menu. Also be sure that the ‘snap’ box is checked so that any miniatures you use will automatically snap to the relevant grid square.

Then all you need do is click on the ‘background’ tab in the map window and choose ‘image’ in the pull-down menu, and simply copy and paste the URL of the map you would like to use in the blank field next to the pull down menu. Then hit the ‘apply’ button and the map should load, and conform perfectly to the grid size you have chosen.

and when the full size map is displayed, the URL is shown in your browser’s address bar)
