Set in the thick mesh were tiny jewels such as he had never seen before. The buckle was strangely made, in the form of a golden serpent head, flat, wedge-shaped and scaled with curious art. A strong shudder shook Conan as he handled it, and he turned as though to throw it over the precipice; then he hesitated, and finally buckled it around his waist.

The girdle of Khemsa, a Stygian wonderous item, provides the wearer with luck and spell resistance. It provides luck in that if there is a choice of targets, an opponent will choose someone other than the wearer (it is of no aid if the opponent targets the wearer specifically - just if the choice is pretty much at random). It provides spell resistance of 30 to the wearer.
