There are two kinds of illithids. Most are aware of the Mind Flayers, but few
have heard of the other branch – the Flesh Crafters. Ulihiontharid wanted to
be a flesh crafter for a long time. Although he was initially trained as an
egoist for the illithid military, he continued to attempt flesh crafting on
his own. He was nearly killed by the illithid community he lived in for his
lack of progress as a psion. Angry at his own rudimentary skills, he delved
into an illithid library and interviewed several masters of the flesh. He learned
to scribe psionic tattoos and to make simple universal items. He became an expert
craftsman, and the masters of flesh accepted him for training. The illithid
community accepted that his perfection was best expressed through that craft
and not via the military arm. Most recently, Ulihiontharid was moved to the
city of
Mind Blast (Sp): This attack is 60 feet long. Anyone caught in this cone
must succeed at a Will save (DC 15) or be stunned for 3d4 rounds.
Psionics (Sp): At Will – Astral projection, charm monster, detect
thoughts, levitate, plane shift, and suggestion. These abilities
are as the spells cast by an 8th level sorcerer (Save DC 11+ spell
level). Also he has 19 power points per day to use when manifesting the following
discovered powers.
0 level – Inkling, Verve, Trinket, Far Hand
1st level – Biofeedback, Minor Creation, Astral Construct
I
2nd level – See Invisibility, Body Adjustment
Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, the mind flayer must hit a small
to large critter with its tentacle attack. If it gets a hold, it attaches the
tentacle to the opponent's head. After a successful grab, it can try to attach
its remaining tentacles with a single grapple check .
Extract (Ex): A mind flayer that begins its turn with all four tentacles
attached and successfully maintains its hold automatically extracts the opponent's
brain, instantly killing the creature.
Telepathy (Su): Mind flayers can communicate telepathically with any
creature within 100 feet that has a language.
Scribe of Flesh (Ex): The first skill Ulihiontharid learned from the
Flesh Crafters was mastery over the art of psionic tattoos. He can scribe two
tattoos per day up to 4th level in power (instead of being limited
to 3rd level powers), and if the total value of the tattoos on a
given day is 1,000 gp or less.
Secrets of Flesh (Ex): With greater understanding of the properties of
flesh, and of the life forms manipulated by the masters of flesh, he gains a
+4 insight bonus on all Craft (flesh) rolls.
Self-Craft (Su): Ulihiontharid crafted a permanent psionic seal into
his flesh and etched the sigils and connections not just into the skin, but
into muscle tissue and the very form of his being. This gave him a permanent
ability to See Invisibility. It cannot be dispelled, but can be suppressed.
