: An Indorian warrior living in Alisander after the dragonship he was serving on was sunk by the Merchant Fleet of Amn.
The Time : 8th Age, 5th Year, 2nd through 3rd days
of Odan (early autumn)
The Place: Lamapacher (village of Marthen)
Notes on the Town: Marthen is a small farming village. It has a population of 87. They are governed by the nearby city of Tirulf. The village was founded by immigrants from Silvergate when it fell (upon the death of King Grimhelm). They worship Thor, god of thunder and rain, patron of those who work the land.
While
meditating in the woods, Dovinyae found a gemstone with a sword-blemish in
it. The stone just fell into his
hands. He gave it to Xavier and the
group began their travels anew.
After
a full day of travelling, they discovered several mauled corpses of animals
surrounded by wolf tracks. Amren and
Dovinyae estimated between 15 and 20 wolves.
They soon found a shepherd’s corpse and his flock of sheep. Dovinyae advanced the theory of werewolves
as wolves would have eaten more of their prey and not slaughtered just for the
sake of the kill. Amren made a prayer
to the Silver Tree asking for aid and guidance. He next came upon a dead warrior holding a magic sword. Amren took the weapon.
Soon
they came upon the village of Marthen and they heard screams. Xavier the Pure launched his Indorian
war-horse into action, followed by the others.
They attacked the werewolves and, after losing all their horses but one,
drove them off, killing three of them.
Amren was able to use his new magic sword, and Xavier attacked with his
silver holy symbol. Ragnar was able to
use his silver hammer to bang bang down upon their heads. The others were not really able to affect
them, except via spell use.
They
raided a nearby temple to Thor and the rest of the town for silver and coated
their weapons in silver then went out and found the lair of the
werewolves. Dovinyae’s spirit guide
warned them that the leader of the werewolves was a minor spellcaster. Dovinyae used his Id Insinuation psionic
attack and stunned the guard, then killed him with his silver-coated
staff. Then they all charged in and
slaughtered the werewolves. They
claimed three paintings which they found in the werewolves’ lair, though they
could not fathom why the werewolves would have three fine paintings.
They
returned to town to a heroes’ welcome and enjoyed a feast in their honor. They continue to be tracked by Imagawa’s
assassins as they trek toward Drychtnoth to end Xavier’s quest for a holy sword.
Each Player was awarded 1400
exp.
Amren was awarded an
additional 3000 exp. for his magical sword.
Dovinyae was awarded a
belated 3000 exp. for his two magic items acquired previously.
Current Events : Raloth and his companions continued to travel toward the source of the Dark Intrusion. Alisander is still under siege.
Notes on the Magic Sword: This sword was created on 2 Odan, 5 VIII. Amren is the first user of the weapon as it was created specifically for him. It will only work for those he designates as his heir or who invokes a prayer to the Silver Tree. It has a silver wolf’s head pommel and is a silver blade (yet as hard as steel). It is a +2 longsword, +5 vs Lycanthropes. The sword is designed along the classic Drychtnothian longsword style, which was widely used in Silvergate during the reign of King Grimhelm. The grip is wrapped in red leather and the cross guard is made of polished silver (again, hard as steel). The weapon’s name is Amrenbrand.
Notes on werewolves: Werewolves are the most feared of the lycanthropes. They are men who can transform themselves into wolves and/or wolf-man hybrids. They are harmed only by silver or magic. True werewolves, as opposed to infected werewolves, tend to be nomadic, seeking new human settlements to feast upon. Caves and burrows are the dens most commonly used in the wild, although they can and do take over the existing dwellings of humans they kill. Many werewolf families roam the countryside in wagons, much like gypsies. They are savage killers, yet are devoted to their close-knit families. They are, without exception, evil.
Notes on this clan of werewolves: These werewolves originated from Nyandar, where their clan had existed for generations. Recently they were driven out from Nyandar by a pair of werewolf-hunters, Jyrune and Treune. They barely made it through Drychtnoth after the youngest of the clan slaughtered a highly ranked official in the territory of King Xunsin. The warlord of that territory, Nythoxheht the necromancer, attacked and slew most of the clan. Only these 18 males survived. They stole the three paintings from a collector in Ta’akrinat and planned to sell them in Alisander to buy new wagons and gain information.
Notes on The Silver Tree: The Silver Tree is one of the six known Supreme Entities. He is the primal force of Good in the cosmos. First worshipped on Inzeladun during the First Age, he was soon forgotten and his Stewards worshipped in his stead. His worship resurfaced in the Sixth Age when he chose a new champion to combat Na-May Hob’s champion. The Silver Tree’s new champion was, of course, Sir Grimhelm of Indor. Worshippers are expected to promote goodness and justice wherever they travel. Priests and paladins are expected to be warriors for the cause (the Silver Tree does not necessarily promote peace unless it is in the best interest of goodness and justice). Some of the Silver Tree’s stewards include Ra, Tyr, Kalendor Hob, and Zeus. Some of the more famous worshippers of the Silver Tree in recent Ages include Tho’ef Sharpshooter, Alphonse the Gnome, Gunnthryd the Paladin of Tyr, Ahgy the druid, Thumedan the wizard, Nepankhra the high priest of Ra (former Pharaoh of Khemt), and Raloth the paladin of the Silver Tree.
Notes on the Supreme Entities: Supreme Entities are so powerfully above the gods as the gods are above mortal man. There are six known Supreme Entities. These are The Silver Tree (Good), Yogath Hob (Evil), Thomtain Hob (Law), Na-May Hob (Chaos), Fate (Destiny), and Djandri Hob (Time). Below the Supreme Entities are the Higher Entities, then the Greater Gods, the Intermediate Gods, the Lesser Gods, the Demigods, the Elves, and, underneath all of this, Man finds his place.
