The Time : 8th Age, 6th Year, 7th of Xaul. (winter).

The Place: Asgard (Ysgard); Eha Ayshnekht (Isle of Dinosaurs); Dream Land (the Red Land); Jungles of Talteculti.

Notes on Ysgard: Ysgard (Asgard) is a plane on an epic scale, with soaring mountains, deep fjords, and dark caverns that hide the secret forges of the dwarves.  A biting wind always blows at a hero’s back, and many of Ysgard’s petitioners are heroes who’ve been slain in battle a thousand times.  Ysgard’s terrain is sparsely settled by petitioners and planars who want to triumph on their own.  If they fail, they want to do that one their own, too. Ysgard is a place where anyone can make a name.  A town’s founded just by pulling longships onto shore and turning the masts and ribs into long halls.  In Ysgard, a warrior can wrestle with the proxies - and even win.  In a place where petitioners die each day and then get up for a hearty breakfast, anything is possible.

After depositing most of his belongings into the Box of Holding, keeping out only Daragru’s magic two-handed sword for use, Ragnar went to Valhalla to seek an audience with Odin.  Odin was not there, so Ragnar found Odin’s other lodge.  Entering therein, he met the entire pantheon eating the midday meal.  Thor demanded that the runecaster regale them with a tale.  Ragnar told them of the quest for the Rune of Resurrection.  Thor did not much care for the tale, but Tyr said that it was a fine tale and petitioned Odin to let Ragnar speak his mind.  Ragnar made a speech to the All-Father, thanking him for his support.  Odin gave him a warning, that Set would never rest until the Rune and the box again rested in Ankhwugaht again.  Ragnar said that he did not fear Set’s minions, nor was he too concerned with Set being angry.  He is Couatl and the Couatl defeats evil at every turn.  Ragnar thanked Odin for the warning, though.

The Couatl approached the Bifrost bridge, but was stopped by Heimdall.  Only the followers of Odin and the Aesir could cross the bridge to Inzeladun.  Ragnar, Toki, and Alrek could cross, but not the others.  Heimdall told them that there is a gate to Inzeladun on the next Landburg.  Heimdall moved the Bifrost to cross the infinite chasm over to that Landburg.  Taking a long, long rope over twenty miles long, Ragnar, Toki, and Alrek crossed over to that land mass floating in the air a score of miles away and slightly below them.  They anchored the rope on the far side and Sir Xavier anchored the rope on Asgard.  Connecting themselves to the rope with a harness Ragnar designed for them, the rest of the Couatl slid to the other river of land.

They found the gate and they passed through it.  They found themselves in a lush jungle next to a massive monolith of solid black stone.  They went in search of water.  They soon found it, but the river was infested with giant crocodiles.  Amren used his powers to soothe the savage beasts and the Couatl unfolded their great ship.  Boarding the ship, they passed into Dream Land.

Returning briefly to their castle in Drychtnoth, they rejoined Dovinyae, who had escaped from the devils.  Neb Rekhis was at the castle and the mummy was resurrected.  Dovinyae wanted to go now to the Mountain of the Godmen to see what could be done about Daragru’s training, but the rest of the Couatl opted to go find the Ring.

Back in Dreamland, Amren divined that the Ring was being held by Itzcoatl, the king of Colhuatepec.  They headed in that direction.  Thosan found his ship and decided to test the folks who had stolen it from him, since he knew nothing of them, not even their names.  He sent wyverns to attack.  The Couatl slaughtered the wyverns, and Alrek shouted out to Thosan that they were the Couatl.

After fifteen days of travel, mostly walking across land, they arrived at the Red Lands, where they met Blue the Red, a warrior who guards the Red Lands.  Ragnar took the ship to the real world and the Couatl found themselves on a lagoon in another jungle.
