ADVENTURE TWENTY-EIGHT

“The Excavation”

Characters:

Amren : Prophet of the Silver Tree.

Alrek: Always ready to save a companion.

Toki: Hell pisses him off.

Dovinyae: Now an invincible Paladin.

Ragnar Silverbeard : The Hammerfoe. Plays polo with devils.

Daragru: Silver-Robed Druid once again.

Xhi Xhu: A Godman. He doesn’t look Xhuish.

The Time : 8th Age, 6th Year, 5th of Ankou (summer)

The Places: Golgaryllgar, Orm (Dreamworld)

Notes on Golgaryllgar: Indor is the land of the Vikings. Traditionally protected by the Legion of Three Hundred, Indor is the home of Grindill and Adilbrand Noblesword.

The Guardians realized that several innocents were trapped in the burning Temple of Grindill, so they rescued them and went into hiding. Disguising themselves as workers (their arms and armor hidden in wheel barrows) they discovered that the Indorians were excavating something in the town. The excavations were guarded by archers and Iron Golems. Five priests were directing the workers. Instead of gathering information, they decided to charge in and hope they messed something up for Grindill. Disguised, they got in and Xhu assassinated one of them quickly. Then Dovinayae charged to attack when the other priests surrounded themselves with their personal guards.

The battles went quick. One priest escaped. Xhi killed two of them. Ragnar killed one with his hammers. Alrek beheaded the fourth. In the meantime they had been hit with fireballs and lightning bolts, but managed to survive.

The main excavation was being headed by the High Priest Hebel. He was standing next to the top of a black pyramid that was being uncovered. Alrek launched his Gae Bolga attack, but missed terribly, landing flat on his back. Amren and Daragru attempted to go down into the dig, killing over forty soldiers with an ice storm. Dovinyae reverted back to his druid origins and cast a wall of stone over Hebel. Luckily Hebel had a cube of force around him that stopped the wall. But Hebel was trapped in a cube of force with a wall of stone around him.

Hebel turned the southwestern wall of earth into magma. The lava killed Amren and Daragru. Alrek and Xhu managed to save the burnt corpse of Amren, but Daragru was long gone.

Hebel used his psionics to escape. The wall of stone crashed to the ground when Hebel and his cube disappeared.

The guardians were awarded 40,000 exp.
