(Note: First Age Character) R'usk Galyna began his career as a druid of D'neld, a minor city in the Empire of Shadow.  He found he had an affinity for large cats, especially lions, panthers, and tigers.  He was soon chosen to be the animal handler for the Penumbral Emperor himself at the Court of Shades. While in this role, he multi-classed into the Cat Lord prestige class (MotW, page 43) and went on several covert missions into the "evil" Angustian Empire for his Emperor.  However, on one mission, he fell in love with an Angustian Lady from the city of Oard.  Enamored of her, and mystified by her powers of Chaos, he defected from the Penumbral Empire and became a citizen of Angust.  He carried on a torrid affair with the Oardian lady and learned Chaos Magic from her.  His eventual marriage to this noblewoman secured his fortune and he took her family name of Galyna, becoming Lord Galyna.  When his wife died from a horrible backlash of chaos magic he became the Head of the Galyna House, a position many members of the family resent, for he is not related through blood.  As Head of the House, he was allowed by the Chaos Lord of Oard to train as a chaos lord.  He is still in the early stages of that training.

R'usk Galyna helped the Chaos Lord of Oard in an unceasing war against the Yuan Ti.  R'usk also earned the enmity of the Saiger House, for L'wel Saiger was engaged to marry R'usk's lover and eventual wife.  Recently, R'usk sponsored a memorial fair commemorating the defeat of his former emperor, and hired a necromancer to steal the relics from that fair for reasons yet undisclosed.  He also has an ongoing "friendly" feud with a visiting Time Lord lich from the future known only as "M".

As a Chaos Mage, R'usk Galyna is powerful and unpredictable.  He can cast spells without study or memorization.  He does not have a spell list to choose from, since he creates his spells on the fly.  His Casting Checks are made at d20+18.  If he rolls a 1 on this check, he suffers from a backlash of chaos power.

R'usk Galyna, in the time where he met the Replacer, is on the Path of Rapid Regression, and is at Stage 4 of that path.  His eyes sit at the edges of his face and are as a tiger's eyes in form.  He tends to exhibit cat-like quirks.  The cloying scent of the beast exudes from him and he has become fearful of fire.  Thick, matted orange and black fur covers him from head to toe, and his ears are now pointed.  His senses have become extremely acute and his muscles react faster than most.  However, he has lost full color vision.

Combat
R'usk Galyna prefers to send in his animal companions (two tigers) first, after he has bolstered them with spells.  His normal attack routine is: 1st round - casts Push Wave (Chaos Spell, Casting DC 20, Will Save DC 24 to avoid, R'usk will take 4 points of subdual damage, all others will be moved back 85 feet away from R'usk, taking 4 points of subdual damage as well) to shove everyone away from him, and orders his animal companions in to fight (free action).  On the 2nd round he casts Summon Nature's Ally II (wolf or eagle). On the 3rd round - casts Adrenaline Surge on wolf or eagle (gives it +4 strength), five foot step back.  On the 4th round + - Draws an animal out of his bag of tricks (up to ten of them, 1 per round) and sets it to defending him. Of course, he is more than willing to fight with his Tiger's Claws (Bladed Gauntlet) if anyone closes to melee range.

Druid Spells: R'usk can cast 5/4/3 druid spells per day.  He cannot cast Lawful spells.  Save DC = 13+ spell level. He usually prepares Create Water, Resistance, Light, Detect Magic, Purify Food and Drink, Calm Animals, Summon Nature's Ally I, Magic Fang, Entangle, Summon Nature's Ally II, Charm Person or Animal, Briar Web

Nature Sense:  R'usk can identify plants and animals with perfect accuracy.  He can tell whether water is safe to drink or polluted.

Animal Companion/Bond: R'usk has two Tigers as animal companions. (MM page 203)  Both animals wear +5 Collars of Resistance, which gives them +5 resistance bonuses to all saving throws.

Woodland Stride:  R'usk can move through natural thorns, briars, overgrown areas, and similar terrain at normal speed and without suffering damage or other impairment.

Trackless Step: R'usk leaves no trail in natural surroundings and cannot be tracked.

Resist Nature's Lure:  R'usk gains a +4 bonus to saving throws against the spell-like abilities of feys.

Animal Lord Spells: R'usk can cast 2 first level and 1 second level spell from the Animal Lord spell list on page 45 of MotW.  He usually prepares two Cure Light Wounds and an Adrenaline Surge spell.

Animal Sense (Su): R'usk can sense any type of cat within a 9 mile radius.

Animal Speech (Ex):  R'usk can converse at will with any cat, as though a speak with animals spell were in effect.

First Totem: R'usk gained Skill Focus (move silently) as a bonus feat.

Lesser Wildshape (Sp): R'usk can use wild shape to take the form of a cat.

Non-linear Time Perception: For a normal sentient being, consciousness and self-awareness is an instantaneous point in the ever-forward-moving present. However, R'usk Galyna – for very brief moments – can expand his awareness beyond and through that point, becoming an infinite wave-function of consciousness that stretches through all his possible pasts, presents, and futures. During this moment, R'usk Galyna can perceive an effect without or before its cause, he can think to all his possible selves, transmitting a message through every point in his existence, or R'usk Galyna can attempt to remember events that occur outside his time-line.

 This is a taxing ability that exhausts R'usk Galyna after he uses it, but that is a small price for peering beyond the boundaries of space and time.

 Non-linear Memory: For a brief, eternal moment, R'usk Galyna expands his consciousness to all his possible past, present, and future selves and attempts to remember some piece of information. This piece of information could be something R'usk Galyna remembers in the future, such as the contents of room beyond a locked door or the winner of a sports event several years from now. It could be a piece of information R'usk Galyna could have possibly learned in an alternate past or present where circumstances different, such as recalling a memory from an alternate past where R'usk Galyna overhead the conversation of an important political official at a dinner party R'usk Galyna attended recently. To perform this task, R'usk Galyna must state the memory he wishes to recall. Then, R'usk Galyna enters a meditative state of total concentration for 10 minutes. At the end of this time, R'usk Galyna performs an appropriate Knowledge skill check, modified by +7. The DC is based on the likelihood that R'usk Galyna would possess the memory, per table NLM-1.

 If the skill check succeeds, R'usk Galyna “recalls” the alternate memory. It exists side-by-side with his old memory (if any) of the event and seems just as real. Any use of non-linear memory – successful or unsuccessful – immediately
fatigues R'usk Galyna. Also, R'usk Galyna must make a Will saving throw against DC 20. If failed, R'usk Galyna is stunned for 2d6 rounds after use of non-linear memory.

 Non-linear Thought: For a brief, eternal moment, R'usk Galyna expands his consciousness to all his possible past, present, and future selves and transmits a single thought to one of his selves. The thought must be brief, no more than a couple of sentences. For instance, R'usk Galyna could send a message to himself in the past, saying “Do not trust the vizier.” R'usk Galyna could think to himself in the future, “Remember to pick up milk at the grocery store.” (Always helpful if one has a spouse.) This ability allows R'usk Galyna to send messages that can potentially change his past, present, or future, creating an entirely new time-line. For example, R'usk Galyna could tell himself several years in the past to bury a pound of uranium in the middle of the desert because R'usk Galyna needs it in the present to power an atomic device. To form a non-linear thought, R'usk Galyna must first determine the thought he wishes to send and where/when in his timeline R'usk Galyna desires to send it. Then, R'usk Galyna enters a meditative state of total concentration for 10 minutes. At the end of this time, R'usk Galyna performs a Will save. The DC is based on the likelihood that R'usk Galyna would be able to implement his thought, per table NLT-1.

 If R'usk Galyna succeeds in the skill check, his non-linear thought has made some alteration to his time-line, though not necessarily the one R'usk Galyna intended. The actual change, its effectiveness, and its consequences are the discretion of his referee. Any use of non-linear thought – successful or unsuccessful – immediately fatigues R'usk Galyna. Also, R'usk Galyna must make a Will saving throw against DC 20. If failed, R'usk Galyna is stunned for 2d6 rounds after the use of this psionic ability. Note: The action required by his non-linear thought must be one that R'usk Galyna can fulfill personally or at least initiate personally. R'usk Galyna cannot send thoughts to other people. Also, the more people his thought affects, the more difficult it is to perform and less likely to occur.  

Cloaked in Chaos: Spellcasters find it difficult to perform divinations against R'usk Galyna.  This supernatural ability functions like a non-detection spell cast by a spellcaster of R'usk Galyna's character level.  Chaos Lords may suppress or resume this ability as a free action.  Further, this aura of chaos often manifests itself in random things popping in and out of existence or random actions being done by those nearby (DM's discretion).  The radius of effect is dependent upon the class level of R'usk Galyna and can be seen in the chart above.

 Create Chaos: With a successful melee touch attack, R'usk Galyna changes some small part of the victim's past so that the victim acts in a seemingly random fashion.  The touched critter must make a Will save (DC = 10 + Chaos Lord class level + Chaos Lord's charisma modifier).  Failure indicates the creature must act in an apparently random manner as per the random action spell.  R'usk Galyna can use this spell-like ability three times per day plus R'usk Galyna's Charisma modifier (always at least once per day regardless of how bad R'usk Galyna's Charisma modifier might be).  R'usk Galyna must declare the use of this ability before the attack is made.  If the attack misses, that use of the power is wasted.

 Unlike random action, this is not a mind-affecting effect.  It is a cause affecting effect.  Thus, mindless undead, constructs, oozes, and vermin are NOT immune.  The subject of a protection from chaos spell is made immune to this ability for the duration of the spell.
