Glauraith
hunted the undead throughout the empire of Drychtnoth on my campaign world
of Inzeladun. His species enemy was the Vampire. He primarily
worshipped The Silver Tree and Olanigan.
Glauraith the Crypt Ranger was in Drychtnoth during the rebellions. He
killed a warlord necromancer. Upon hearing of a vampire in Ingara,
Glauraith left Drychtnoth before the rest of the Warlords could avenge the
murder. In Ingara, Glauraith rescued some Elves from a King Wight
and his foul followers. He was rewarded by the Elves with a "shroud of
Sol's embrace". He went on to kill the King Wight and the vampire he was
hunting. Glauraith's name as a successful crypt ranger became well known
in Ingara and Drychtnoth.
Glauraith returned to Drychtnoth to battle a mummy from Dagam. He also
destroyed three more ghosts during the course of that year.
Glauraith destroyed a coven
of necromanceresses on the night of the Conjunction while in Odhirran. He was
hired by the Druids of Odhirran to be the protector of their Holy
Resting Grounds (graveyard). He worked this duty for four years.
The Druids of
Odhirran
gave Glauraith a special javalin in return for his years of faithful
service. The javalin would launch itself at vampires, impaling them,
then immolating them. The javalin would separate into hundreds of ravens
which would then coalesce back into the javalin for more hunts. Glauraith
then traveled to Nyandar and killed another vampire and the necromancer
that created the undead thing.
He was finally killed
by Mind Flayers (His brain was extracted and eaten).
Combat
Glauraith loves to wade into combat with his magic sword.
Spell
Casting: Glauraith can cast divine
spells.
Favored Enemy:
Glauraith has two favored
enemies. Undead (+2), Shapechangers (+1). The bonuses
apply to Damage Rolls and the following skills: Bluff, Listen, Sense
Motive, Spot, and Wilderness Lore against those types of
creatures.
Detect
Undead: Functions at will as the
spell
Smite
Undead: Once per day adds wisdom
modifier to attack roll and adds on extra point of damage per Hunter
level. In Glauraith's case, this adds +4 to his attack bonus, and +7
to his damage.
Spurn Death's
Touch: Glauraith adds his wisdom
bonus to all saves vs. effects or spells from undead. This gives
Glauraith a +4 on all saves.
Psionics: He can
use Inkling 3/day, and Object reading 2/day and Sensitivity to Psychic
Impressions 1/day.
Kulkruunoth: +3
longsword, ghoul's bane. (The weapon is +5 vs. ghouls and does an
additional +2d6 damage against them. The sword has a special purpose
to destroy ghouls and it disintegrates them on a critical hit. No
save. The sword also gives a +4 bonus to strength 1/day and it can
detect traps and detect secret doors. The wielder is immune to
paralyzation so long as he holds the sword.)
Tsalchbokgat:
+3 ghost touch Javelin, vampire bane (The weapon is +5 vs. vampires.
Always hits heart if roll is 4 better than the vampire's AC, +2d6 damage
otherwise). If impaled, both the vampire and the weapon burst into
flame. The weapon reforms later. The javelin is long shaft of
wood tapering to a sharp point. The other end is carved into the
shape of four leering gargoyles, their wings held straight up and back to
back. The entire length is covered with detailed images of
intermeshed black birds.
Other magic items: 3 feast
of oblivion philters (usable only by Glauraith); Bottle of "the
blood of the angered spirit" 100 sq ft.; Shroud of Sol's
Embrace; Chalk of Barriers - 1 stick; Elvish vampire lore
book, Death knight's chainmail
