| FAMOUS MAGES OF INZELADUN | |||||||||||||||||
| Probably the most famous mage in Inzeladun is Grindill the Archmage. Born in the 4th Age as Ulfric Leofwine, Grindill became the most powerful mage of any Age. He used the ancient book of prophecy, the Nan Curinir, to gain his powers. With his henchman Groll, Grindill traveled the time streams and, with Groll, was one of the pioneers of Chronomancy. Grindill wrote several famous treatises on magic, perhaps the most famous being Grindill's Tome of Fires and Acids. Grindill created Marlorn, the first Phantasm Golem. His henchwoman Saren became famous for her enchantments. At 76th level, Grindill became Lord of the Tower just before the Cataclysm that ended the Fourth Age. As Lord of the Tower, Grindill reshaped Inzeladun to his liking during the Fifth Age. He also demanded that mages draw their power from The Tower, not telling them the terrible cost this would betoken them. He hunted down mages that would not bend to his wishes, created the Grey Assassins, headed by his former henchwoman Saren. With the coming of the Doombringer, Grindill was removed from the Tower. He became, with the patronage of Catemar, the demigod of magic, but Grindill wanted more. He strove to become a greater power, and intended to sacrifice all of Inzeladun to the Old Ones to gain this power. He was stopped by the Guardians of the Silver Tree and their allies in the Eighth Age. | |||||||||||||||||
| A former companion of Grindill was Killren the Archmage. Killren was the Lord of the Tower during the Sixth Age and opposed the evils of Grindill when he turned treacherous. Killren, a hero during the age of Han Dirgon and Andar the priest, remaines a hero even unto the present Age. | |||||||||||||||||

| The most powerful of Illusionists was Marlorn. A former henchman of Grindill, he was actually a Phantasm Golem, a living illusion. He dressed in black or brown robes, but none could ever see his face from under his hood. He rarely spoke. It is said that if a person could pull down Marlorn's hood, one would find only another hood. He was destroyed in Indor at the end of the Seventh Age. | |||||||||||||||||
| Thigru Thorkisen is a mage of more recent times. A witch at the start, this Ingaran lad longed to become a true mage and draw on the Tower for his magic. With the coming of Lord Komaaks to Ingara, Thigru was given the opportunity to gain the wealth necessary to become a true mage. With Komaaks' money he was indeed able to join the Grey Robes, the neutral order of magic and became a transmuter. Thigru later recovered the Codex of the Infinite Planes from the City of Brass on the Elemental Plane of Fire. With this book, he discovered Alienism. He sundered himself from the Grey Robes and began his own order of magic, the Blue Robes. He later founded a school of magic called Universitayt. He owned a floating castle which hovered over Universitayt. The castle was destroyed at the end of the Seventh Age. Thigru was a prolific writer and wrote many tomes on magic use and research. Thigru allied himself to Yam ibn Saud for a while and helped secure Yam ibn Saud's position as a demigod. Thigru later sacrificed the Blue Robes in an unholy ritual to gain even more power. Thigru is presumed to have died, at 21st level, with the destruction of Sprakxorclerat. Rumors persist, however, of his continued existence as a lich. | |||||||||||||||||

The brother of fellow Guardian Ahgy, Thumedan eventually became the head of the White Robed Order of magic. He also discovered the Elvish methods of spell casting and became something more than human by that discovery.
