Neria is the most feared Elf in Inzeladun. A fighter/wizard/bladesinger, she defends elves from the evil humans of the world. Her name is used to frighten children in Drychtnoth and Lamapacher, where her violent excursions to free enslaved or hunted elves are legendary. The rulers of Drychtnoth offer a kingdom for her capture - dead or alive. She is also a legend among Elves, for she provides sanctuary for any Elf in need. Her sanctuary is hidden deep in the Kargon Mountains that form the border between Drychtnoth and Lamapacher. Neria does not appreciate humanity, nor is she very forgiving of those who hurt Elves. She has dedicated her life to protecting the lives and the lifestyles of Elves who choose to live in Inzeladun. Her full Elvish name is Vahlna'LA Neria Ar'ae'oe Tha'nyssa.
She has a hawk named Ffhht for a
familiar, and a red dragon named Xanthrall for a pet. She wears
Ventadari Armor (See Dragon Annual #1). It is not made out of
any known substance, but appears to be constructed entirely of translucent
layers of force. It is nearly invisible, but when light hits the
armor at a certain angle, a faint, rainbow-colored shimmering
appears. The armor also grants Neria double strength Haste
2/day, but it ages her 2 years to use it. The armor can only be worn
by an Elf.
Combat
Neria is a bladesinger, an elf who has blended
art, swordplay, and arcane magic into a harmonious whole. In battle,
Neria's lithe movements and subtle tactics seem beautiful... yet she is
deadly efficient. Neria commands great respect in Elvish
communities, and is considered one of their foremost protectors.
Neria, unlike most bladesingers, fights with a katana in one hand instead
of a longsword. This leaves her other hand free for spell casting
(as a free action). She often likes to cast displacement
spells, keen edge (this makes her threat range 13-20 with her magic
katana), and true strike.
Bladesong (Ex): When wielding a katana in one hand (and nothing in the other), Neria gains a dodge bonus to AC equal to her Intelligence bonus.
Lesser Spellsong (Ex): When wielding a katana in one hand (and nothing in the other), Neria can "take 10" when making a Concentration check to cast defensively.
Song of Celerity (Ex): When wielding a katana in one hand (and nothing in the other) and using the full attack action, Neria can cast one bladesinger spell each round as a free action.
Greater Spellsong (Ex): Neria ignores arcane spell failure when wearing light armor.
Song of Fury (Ex): When wielding a katana in one hand (and nothing in the other) and using the full attack action, Neria can make one extra attack in a round at her highest attack, but this attack and each other attack made that round suffer a -2 penalty. This penalty applies for 1 round, so it affects attacks of opportunity Neria might take before her next turn.
Spells: Neria can cast 3 0-level spells, 7 1st level, 5 2nd level, 4 3rd level, and 4 4th level spells per day.
