The
Lost Scrolls of Wa Sa
Wa Sa Mukashiwakaru, a monk
who discovered psionic powers in the lands of Onna-no Otearai when he
discovered a Psi-Gate linked to an outpost city of ancient Angust, wrote
down many of his insights on long scrolls. He founded the first
monestary for psi-monks in Onna-no Otearai in the city of Shung De Chui.
Toward the end of his life, he found that his students fought over the
scrolls and that possession of the scrolls seemed to be more important to
them than the insights inscribed upon them.
Ever since his return from that nameless Angustian outpost city, Wa Sa
Mukashiwakaru had a fascination for creating bizarre psi-mirrors.
These psi-mirrors became more important to him as he made his decision: He
would take his scrolls and his insights and hide them from the world until
the day they were sought after for their content, not their powers or
their mere existance.
Wa Sa Mukashiwakaru hid the scrolls, scattering them across the world via
the Psi-Gate of Shung De Chui. He ordered that his tomb be
constructed around this time, and he filled the tomb with some of his more
fantastic psi-mirrors. He contacted guardians for each hiding place.
These scrolls provide insights that boost the mind, body and spirit.
Much like the various ability boosting tomes in DMG, these also will boost
the character stats of the characters who read them and practice their
techniques for a month.
Each stat has three scrolls devoted to it. For example, there are
three scrolls of Charisma (The Fushoka Scrolls of Wa Sa). Possession
of one grants a +2 Charisma score. Possession of two grants +4.
Possession of three grants +6.
One set of three scrolls (useless if less than all of them are possessed)
grants a character maximum hitpoints for his character level and
thereafter (so long as the techniques are continued to be used).
This is the Scroll of Blessing by the Gods (The Kinpatsu Scrolls of Wa
Sa).
Other scrolls contain methods to learn how to manifest psi-powers, psi
feats, and other skills. One set of three scrolls increases one's
bonus to psi-points.
It is unknown how many scrolls there are. Each scroll is 15 feet in
length when unscrolled, and about two feet wide.
The techniques encouraged by these scrolls range from meditations to diet
to philosophy (Wa Sa practiced, after his Angustian trip, a philosophy of
non-violence, despite his skills in the martial arts, which he taught).
Wa Sa Mukashiwakaru hid hints
for the location of his scrolls behind his special psi-mirrors.
These mirrors, which contained the madness of Angust, are portals.
Enter one, and you have entered the mouth of something.
Look behind you at the door you entered through, and you can see Wa Sa's
hints and directions. Be warned though, some people have not
returned from a trip into one of those maws.
