The Shadow Tome of Tenebrion

This is a book that is holy to Tenebrion.  Five known copies exist.  Vulthois, the most infamous of Tenebrion's priests, used this tome as the basis for his Screaming Tome.  The tome gives seven holy chants, known as Shadow Cantillates, to perform various ceremonies, and three summoning chants, known as Dhins.  A referenced Barrier chant, the Raath-Syth, is not included in the Tome.  Vulthais is said to have found part of this Barrier chant and included it within his Screaming Tome, but this is unsubstantiated.

Here are some excerpts from the Shadow Tome.

"People sometymes arrive at Crossroads of Destinie and are known to lose their Way, to Exist in Meaningless Circles for Lives upon Lives, Years upon Years; the Contours of Life often seem to defy even the moste Accurate Sense of Dyrection, and the Roads and Tracks never seem to Tally  with Reality.  Persons at these Crossroads either Pass into Oblivion, like Gray Smoke from Cottage Chimneystacks dissppearing into Aer, never to come again.  Others Pass into Fame or Infamy and Remain Forevyr.  The Temples of Tenebrion build a Crossroad Room to Symbolize this Aspect of Lyfe, and Each Door is a Different Reality.  Shall ye pass into Oblivion?  Shall ye find the Road you are Destined to be on?  Tenebrion eats the Souls of those that Fail and Exalts the souls of those that find theire Way.  The Key is the Ritual.   And the Ritual is Thus: '
Ghe'phnglui, mglw'ngh ghee-yh, Tenebrion, Ftagn mglw y'telette ng'wgab, Tenebrion, Ghe'phnglui mglw-ngh ahkobhg'shg, Tenebrion; THABAITE! - TENEBRION, TENEBRION, TENEBRION!'"

"TO CALL THE BLACK BLOOD: This method involves a wafer, of (untranslatable, but thought to mean flour) and water composition - printed with the Sixth Shadow Cantillate in the
original symbols - handed to the victim with the summoning chant (see under the heading Hoy-Dhin) called out aloud within the said victim's hearing.  This will not produce Tenebrion but his Black Blood, which has the property of being able to live apart from Him; called from a universe so alien that it is known only to Tenebrion and (untranslatable), conterminous with all spaces and times.  The victim is taken when the Black Blood settles like a mantle about him and smothers him.  Then the juice of Tenebrion returns with the soul of the victim to the body of the The Shadow in His own continuum."

"TO SEE TENEBRION IN DREAMS:  And the Sixth Shadow Cantillate may be used that one might scry in Dreams the Form of the Shadow, Tenebrion, who walks in all Times and Spaces.  It must however be observed that the Chant should be used sparingly -
once only - before each Sleep wherein the Scrying is to be done, lest the Seer impart into That on which he gazes a Perception of the Gate of his Mind; and that, in using this Gate to enter from the Outside, and in returning thither through this same Gate, Tenebrion may burn out the Mind and Gate and all in His coming and going for the Agony is great and Death certain.  Nor, in such a visitation, would His Actions in this Sphere be controlled; and the Shadow's Appetite was well known to the Adepts of old."

"TO CALL TENEBRION: This method again involves the use of the Sixth Shadow Cantillate: called out three times by thirteen adepts in unison at midnight of any First Day.  Note:
any thirteen callers will find the ritual as described answered, provided at least one amongst them is an adept; but unless at least seven of the callers are adepts - and unless, on the night before the midnight of the calling, they first seal their souls with the Raath-Syth Barrier - they may well suffer hideous reversals and penalties!"
