(OOC: This is a sidequest to find a teacher for Laynie, the orphan from Immortality Awakens. Anyone intending to help out can report here)

Vanitri walks out with Laynie, and presumibly Mearran.

"Time to put our ear to the ground and see what we hear," Vanitri says.

OOC: Gather Information +4 to find out information on the Accademy. Vanitri knows Elise was in it, and they give graduates shimmering robes, but that's about it, but it's a start.

No presumption need, Mearran follows "Where do you go for help in a city like this? Who are the leaders?"

Bront
12-13-05, 02:47 AM
"It's not the leaders I'm concerned with. It's the people. With the right touch, they'll tell ya what you need to know." Vanitri says.

"Anyone, but no one in particular. Just got to know how to ask, and keep your ears open." Vanitri says. "Surely you've heard of gossip, and overheard a conversation or two you shouldn't have. It's a skill, just keep your ears open, and ask the occasional question, and you'll find the answer you seek."

"Chro...Cro...Croquet! Yes, I remember...they hit a ball with a stick, and the balls have lots of different colours and stuff. Maybe it was flamingos, or was that a children's story? Is that what you mean?" a drunken old man asks, after scooping a few silvers out of Vanitri's hands.

"Perhaps the Library might know a bit more." Vanitri says, as he rolls his eyes at not thinking about it earlier.

Hewj watched as the small group made their way down the street ahead of him. Despite his long and ackward spear Hewj felt comfortable that the very skills that had saved his life on many occassions - his ability to hide - were serving him well (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=312540).

It seemed pretty obvious the group had no idea what they were looking for. Hewj watched as the colorfully-dressed man tried to interrogate a drunk old man. By the look of it the man was exercising about as much finesse as the half orc leader who had beaten on Hewj so many times in the first 15 years of his life. Hewj watched though as the "drunk" old man palmed the silver anyway. Hewj found himself, not for the first time, thinking that it seemed a pretty easy way to make a living. Careful to not be seen, Hewj turned to face a nearby merchant, pretending to examine his wares, all-the-while watching the party's progress down the street out of the corner of his eye.

As they head to the library, Vanitri, always the cautious one, looks around, but does not see anything out of the ordinary.

(OOC: Okay, now I have to ask about the Orussus library...as I mentioned in the IA thread, sometimes I hate GMing in Orussus :()

*Reaching the library, the group shuffles inside, where they are greeted at the entrance by a crotchety old librarian in thick glasses:*

"You folks members of the Library or one of our partners?" she asks, "If not, you're going to need to pay to reference our texts."

HugeOgre

Hewj stood across from the massive building he had seen the rest of the party enter. He smiled as he wrapped the cloak around his features again, secretly thanking the shaman who had taken enough pity on him to teach him basic letters. A library. If Hewj was deciphering the word correctly it was a place where people stored information on scrolls and within large tomes. Hewj knew he couldnt go inside. It would be too odd if he were spotted. A half orc for one, and one who the group would no doubt remember seeing in the tavern. No, no he would stay here and wait for the group to reemerge, at least for a little while...

*Reaching the library, the group shuffles inside, where they are greeted at the entrance by a crotchety old librarian in thick glasses:*

"You folks members of the Library or one of our partners?" she asks, "If not, you're going to need to pay to reference our texts."
"Well, you look like a knowledgable young woman, and we're just looking for some current information, perhaps you can help," Vanitri says. "We're just looking for someone who may know something about a magical accademy or order or some such. Do you think you might be able to help us out, or at least direct us to someone who can?"

OOC: Diplomacy +4

Rystil Arden
12-14-05, 06:36 AM
"Oh, you Freefolk and your flattery..." the old woman laughs sharply, readjusting her spectacles, "I can direct you to the Arcana section of the library if you pay your entrance fee."

Bront
12-14-05, 06:44 AM
"That would be delightful, thank you." Vanitri says. "How much is the fee?"

Rystil Arden
12-14-05, 06:49 AM
"That depends on whether you just want a one-day clearance or if you would prefer to become a lifetime member. It is 10 gold per day to visit, plus extra if you want to borrow a book or have something transcribed. But if you become a member, it only costs 100 gold, and then you have unlimited access plus the ability to take out one book at any given time for free as long as you return it promptly, available for most books."

Bront
12-14-05, 07:00 AM
"Can a lifetime member take guests in for free?" Vanitri asks.

Rystil Arden
12-14-05, 07:04 AM
"Yes, but only one guest..."

She looks down to Laynie and gives a slight smile:*

"However, children can enter for free... the smile becomes more stern "As long as they are supervised and they keep quiet."

Bront
12-14-05, 07:30 AM
"Laynie here's a good girl. Aren't you?" Vanitri asks Laynie.

"I'll take a membership for myself then."

Rystil Arden
12-14-05, 07:34 AM
"Yep, I am. I like libraries! Is this a library? Libraries are so great! They've got lots and lots of books and stuff. Mommy and Daddy had a big big library."

"A membership? Thank you very much, Mister...Well, we'll figure that out with the forms. Come with me to fill out the forms for your membership, and we'll enter you into the ledger and get you a nice little illuminated certificate of membership."

Bront
12-14-05, 07:55 AM
Vanitri fills out the paperwork.

"So, where is the Arcana section?"

Rystil Arden
12-14-05, 08:02 AM
"Follow me, Mister Vanitri."

*The librarian leads Vanitri, with Laynie and Mearran in tow, into the library proper, where shelves and shelves of books stretch in all directions.*

"Wow! That's lots and lots and lots of books!" Laynie says, in awe about all the books.

*Taking a few turns, the librarian stops at a wing filled with thick, musty tomes covered with mystic symbols, many of which are written in Draconic and planar languages.*

"Here you are--the Arcana section. If you need anything, please ask a staff member," and she heads back through the rows of shelves.

Bront
12-14-05, 08:04 AM
"Thank you." Vanitiri says to the clerk.

Vanitri looks around for any books about acadameys, as well as any studious mages who might be able to point him in the right direction.

Rystil Arden
12-14-05, 08:11 AM
*As Vanitri looks around, trying to find any books about academies or even just books that he can read, Laynie follows after, jiggling about excitedly, but eventually she gets bored and pulls a book at random off the lowest shelf, the only one she can reach, heading for one of the reading desks.*

Bront
12-14-05, 08:24 AM
"What you got ther Laynie?"

OOC: No people around either?

Rystil Arden
12-14-05, 08:27 AM
"Uhhh....let me check. Umm, it's Advanced Studies in Thaumaturgy by Draelik Vryden. Sounds like fun!"

*Vanitri doesn't see any people in this part of the Arcana section, but if he'd like, he can search through all the aisles quickly, paying less attention to the books, to see if anyone is on the other side of any of the stacks and shelves.*

Bront
12-14-05, 08:29 AM
He will indeed to that then.

Rystil Arden
12-14-05, 08:35 AM
*Vanitri takes a quick survey among the stacks and shelves of books, and he finds an absent-minded looking man scribbling down things from one of the books in the corner as well as a plain-looking woman with a rather large nose, which is stuck in a book at one of the other reading desks.*

Bront
12-14-05, 09:32 AM
Vanitri will ask both of them, politely. "Excuse me, I'm looking for information arcane Academies, I believe this one is called the Colorful or Chromatic or something. Would you happen to know where I might look, or perhaps know about it yourself?"

Rystil Arden
12-15-05, 04:28 AM
(OOC: Conversation 1--)

"Those crazies?" the thin, absent-minded fellow looks up briefly, "The refuse of Medibaria, they are. They seem to be convinced that the crumbled empire will rise again, despite not a whit of evidence in their favour. Basically, they're a bunch of deluded elitists, and thanks to the spread of magic after the empire's fall, they don't really have anything useful there that everyone doesn't already know, but I have to admit, it's funny to see them trying to be elitist about being destroyed."

(OOC: Conversation 2--)

"The final storehouse of the ancient lore of the once-mighty Medibarian Empire," the plain woman replies in a voice that is just a bit exotic and quite mellifluous, with a slight lilt, making it far more attractive than her looks, her sharp nose sweeping up to point towards Vanitri as she turns to face him and leaves her book for the moment, "They hold arcane secrets within their walls that are far beyond the ken of the wizards of this age..."

Bront
12-15-05, 05:02 AM
(OOC: Conversation 1--)

"Worry to bother you with this then Sir. Thank you for your help."

(OOC: Conversation 2--)

"Thank you very much good lady. Perhaps you might know where I could find them?"

Rystil Arden

"The Academy of the Chromatic Order still stands among the crumbled ruins of the ancient capital of the Old Empire, an everlasting testament to the glory of Medibaria."

OOC: Does Vanitri have any clue where that is?

OOC: Given he's got a +3 in KN: Geography, I figured you'd roll :p

Rystil Arden
12-15-05, 05:34 AM
(OOC: Noooooo! Curses--y'know I never looked at the character sheets for this adventure, and I thought he was just a Rogue (for which the chance of having Knowledge Geography was basically non-exisstant)

:rolls: and gets a modified 9...

Oh well :p)

*Vanitri doesn't know where it is, but he thinks it is somewhere in the Northeast.*

Bront
12-15-05, 05:42 AM
"I'm unfamiliar with that area, other than it is somewhere Northeast of here. Do you perhaps know more of the area or at leas know of a book I might use to gain more info."

OOC: He took rogue first, but he was always destined to be a rogue/ranger, because he needed to be wilderness aware.

Rystil Arden
12-16-05, 05:14 AM
"There's a historical archive in another section of the library as well as several atlases and large maps in the map room."

Bront
12-16-05, 06:28 AM
"Thank you very much, you've been most helpful."

Vanitri heads back to Laynie and Mearran. "Looks like we need to hit the map room, and perhaps the archives to look for information on the old empire of Medibaria, and the Chromatic Order."

Barring no objections, Vanitri will move over to that section with the others.

Rystil Arden
12-16-05, 06:30 AM
"Ummm...can I take my book?"

Bront
12-16-05, 07:11 AM
"I don't see why not, just remember where you got it so we can return it before we leave. Wouldn't want to find ourselves unwelcome her later."

Rystil Arden
12-16-05, 07:13 AM
"Okay, I remember I got it in the magic section. Let's go over to the other one then."

Bront
12-16-05, 07:24 AM
"Ok, let's go then."

Vanitri heads off to the map section to look for maps.

Rystil Arden
12-16-05, 07:31 AM
*Vanitri isn't exactly sure where the map room is, but he asks a librarian and they head there. They find some maps detailing the Orussus region, showing Medibaria to the northeast.*

Bront
12-16-05, 07:32 AM
Assuming Vanitri can aquire the materials, he will scetch a rough map of the area, highlighting roads and other important features (Cities, mountin ranges, signs that say "here dar be dragons", the usual)

Rystil Arden
12-16-05, 07:35 AM
(OOC: He needs to pay PH price for the paper or parchment, pen, and ink. Is that okay?)

Bront
12-16-05, 07:40 AM
OOC: No problem. This is going to be a very non-lucritive job

Rystil Arden
12-16-05, 07:45 AM
(OOC: Okey dokey.)

*Vanitri scribes down a map, which has all the main details of the map in the Guide to Living ENWorld.*

Bront

"Anything else you think we'll need?" Vanitri asks his companions.

OOC: Give LF a chance to chime in :)

LogicsFate
12-17-05, 12:17 AM
"That'll do" Mearran states, having been scanning the books since they entered. Snapping back to the conversation "Maybe we should broaden our options? Did you see about any other schools"

Bront
12-17-05, 03:34 AM
"There are others? I didn't think to ask, as I wasn't looking." Vanitri says. "The only mage I've met who wasn't a freefolk was from the school, so I kinda figured that's where they all learned it from."

LogicsFate
12-17-05, 04:46 AM
Mearran opens his mouth then closes it again. "...I suppose your right, I haven't heard of any others either. I'm ready to go."

Rystil Arden
12-17-05, 05:08 AM
(OOC: Well, there's at least Allimon, Fallon, and then the lazy-ass solution as well, but I'm cool to go to Medibaria if you guys are. Ready?)

Bront
12-17-05, 05:11 AM
"Let's put that book back Laynie, and then we're off to Medibaria." Vanitri says.

OOC: How is everyone on food and water? Vanitri can hunt, but it will be slower going, and if Vanitri and Mearan hunt, Laynie is by herself, which isn't good.

LogicsFate
12-17-05, 05:29 AM
OOC: I've always wanted to go to Medibaria :D . I have a feeling that elises backstory is going to get extended by the end of this.

I don't think Mearran has food or water, being a druid he creates a gallon of water a day and forages for food.

Rystil Arden
12-17-05, 05:36 AM
"Awwww! But I'm almost finished the chapter. Can I finish first? Pleeeeeeeeease?"

(OOC: Yup, I'm becoming more fond of the Academy as I work on it. I may even propose allowing the UA Wizard variants for losing the feats as bonus feats for Wizards from the Academy (y'know, like the one where an Abjurer puts up a defensive mantle that gives her +Int bonus to AC and saves but ends after it protects against the first attack)--that would be cool)

Bront
12-17-05, 05:46 AM
"I'm in no hurry." Vanitri says.

OOC: Got it, so we go forage for food, and Laynie gets eaten by the bear ..... wait a minute...

Rystil Arden
12-17-05, 05:48 AM
"Yay!!! Laynie replies happily, giving Vanitri a hug, or the best she can manage with only being able to reach his waist.

*She turns back to her page and keeps reading her book.*

Rystil Arden
12-17-05, 08:16 AM
(OOC: Laynie wouldn't have been eaten by a bear if she still had her Doggie to protect her from bears :p)

Bront
12-17-05, 10:47 AM
Vanitri waits for Laynie to finish by discussing their plans with Mearran. "We should buy a few supplies. One of us can forage off and on, but we should get some supplies in case we can't get enough for everyone."

Should we get a cart? Technicaly I can afford it, but that will blow a large chunk of the cash I had to start with.

My concerns about hunting are speed. If you hunt, you hunt at half-speed, which is 10. I hunt at 15. Doesn't sound like much, but it's the difference between covering 10 and 15 miles per day (10' of move is close to 1 mph). And, since we might not catch anything, do you want to listen to a hungry kid complain? not sure how much, but some food is advised. Water we can manage with just a skin or two a day.

LogicsFate
12-17-05, 03:11 PM
"Ok, we'll split the cost of rations, and I'll get a watersac or two"

A chapter allready?
Mearran leans over and looks at the book Laynie has been reading

OOC: Point duely noted, as for traveling Mearran and laynie can/might be booking at 40ft of movement if we can get her to ride triton, then by casting Tireless Journey on hisself
http://www.enworld.org/showpost.php?p=2464583&postcount=14

Rystil Arden
12-17-05, 03:12 PM
*Mearran can't tell what the book says--it is written in an unfamiliar language.*

Bront
12-17-05, 03:22 PM
Vanitri nods "That sounds like a plan then."

Sounds good. We can still hunt occasionaly, and on days we do, we'll just go a bit slower, or perhaps stop a bit early and get a few hours of hunting in.

Forgot about your dog.

RA: How long does the journy look like it will take?

Rystil Arden
12-17-05, 03:28 PM
(OOC: It's about 550 miles by road. The other benefit of the road path is that you pass through the city of Fallon, which has its own magic academy. The other path is to just trudge through random wilderness and across a river in a straight line, which is about 350 miles)

LogicsFate
12-17-05, 03:33 PM
"Almost done, Laynie?"

OOC: Thats ok, just remember a large Great Dane analog, plodding around with us(except in the Library). Mearran would just go through the wilderness, what about Vanitri?

Rystil Arden
12-17-05, 03:39 PM
"Almost. The last part of the incantination thingy is on the next page and then there will be a picture I think."

LogicsFate
12-17-05, 04:19 PM
"Oh,... what does the incantation do?"

Rystil Arden
12-17-05, 04:33 PM
"It summons a blue slob! It's pretty because it's blue!"

Bront
12-18-05, 05:53 AM
"Why would you want to summon a slob?" Vanitri asks curiously.

Rystil Arden
12-18-05, 05:54 AM
"Uhhh...because he's blue? He's probably more fun to summon than a rock or a ice-cubes."

Bront
12-18-05, 06:05 AM
"Well, I'd avoid summoning anything till you're tought how. You never know what you might get, and if it would be friendly."

Rystil Arden
12-18-05, 06:09 AM
"Oh, don't be silly Mister Old Man! I can't summon anything, I was just reading a bit, silly," Laynie giggles.

Bront
12-18-05, 07:13 AM
"With you, I wouldn't be supprised." Vanitri chuckles.

Rystil Arden
12-18-05, 07:20 AM
"What does that mean, Mister Old Man?"

Bront
12-18-05, 09:20 AM
"I'm not that old Laynie. You can call me Vanitri, or just Van if that's easier. And it's definately a compliment."

OOC: So, 550 miles by road is how many days?

Rystil Arden
12-18-05, 09:23 AM
"So it adds up to ninety, Van-Man?"

(OOC: Well, I'm not exactly sure about Mearran's spell and its effect, although the spell seems not to work on animals. Roads allow full movement without any terrain modifiers, though)

Bront
12-18-05, 09:35 AM
"No, a compliment is saying something good about someone else. I was saying how smart you are."

OOC: So, if he hits us both with the spell, we can walk at 40 for 8-10 hours easily, so should be covering 40 miles a day, getting us there in about 14 days. If he does it only on himself, that's walking at 30, for 8-10 hours, and we'll be there in about 20 days, but he'll have a spare spell (for healing perhaps)

Rystil Arden
12-18-05, 09:39 AM
"Oh, okay. That's nice of you, Mister Van-Man. Mommy said that complimentary angels make ninety, though."

(OOC: Yup, looks like it :))

Rystil Arden
12-18-05, 09:45 AM
(OOC: Also, if Mearran casts it on both and Vanitri forages, you have to move at 30 that day)

Bront
12-18-05, 09:53 AM
"Oh? I don't know about that, but your mommy was pretty smart too."

OOC: Yup, so, 40 days rations should be enough, and an extra waterskin or two. Wait, we need to feed the dog to...

Rystil Arden
12-18-05, 09:56 AM
"Yeah, she was the smartest lady in the world!"

(OOC: Yup, add in the dog and you've got it covered. Should be carryable without a cart)

Bront
12-18-05, 10:53 AM
Vanitri smiles and lets Laynie finish her book, and then they return it to the proper section, and head out to buy rations.

HugeOgre
12-18-05, 05:29 PM
Hewj looked up, checking the sun again for at LEAST the 10th time. Looking around, the young half orc couldnt help wondering if the group he had been following had slipped out another door, or left while he was haggling with the merchants here.

What does one do in a library for so long?

Hewj found himself sighing, wondering what he was doing and why he didnt just approach the humans. Most here had at LEAST talked to him, and none had been outright mean. A few had called him a cur, or some other derogatory name, but as near as Hewj could tell everyone who tried to haggle too much with a shopkeep got that honor. All in all he got a lot better attention here than he ever did with the tribe that raised him. With that thought Hewj turned his attention back to the door, once again trying to watch it without being too obvious.

Rystil Arden
12-18-05, 09:08 PM
"Wow! Thaumaturgy is neat!" Laynie bubbles excitedly as they head back with the book and she puts it back a little sadly, before heading out with Vanitri and Mearran to buy rations.

*Hewj sees the trio head out of the library.*

HugeOgre
12-19-05, 12:16 AM
Hewj keenly spotted the two men accompanying the young girl as the exited from the library, and he could tell from their determined attitude they now had in mind something to do. Adjusting his backpack he tipped his long spear down so that it did not stand up so much above the people and moved off toward them, eager to follow them wherever they went, though still hiding amongst the people who walked the streets.

LogicsFate
12-19-05, 04:48 AM
Mearran follows along, whistling for Triton when they exit the library. Who comes trotting up.

OOC: I would say we could double up on Triton and cast on vanitri, but as written it looks like it has to affect Mearran first

Rystil Arden
12-19-05, 05:13 AM
(OOC: Looks like it can't affect Triton, since he's not a humanoid, right? Otherwise, you could cast it on yourself and have it affect him too through the link)

Bront
12-19-05, 05:37 AM
Vanitri leads everyone to the market to find someone who sells rations.

OOC: I thought the link delt with that?

Vanitri leads everyone to the market to find someone who sells rations.

OOC: I thought the link delt with that?
(OOC: Ah, that's true. Unusual...that would allow a Wizard with an Outsider familiar to Rez it if he was also a cleric

And the good news is that Speed(Heavily Encumbered Dog) == Speed(Vanitri) )

Bront
12-19-05, 06:44 AM
Vanitri shells out his half of the 40 rations.

OOC: Yes, but only 1 target per 2 levels. However, it can effect anyone as the first target as I read it, since it is range touch, and 1 target per 2 levels.

Rystil Arden
12-19-05, 06:52 AM
(OOC: That's right, so he has to cast twice)

LogicsFate
12-19-05, 05:38 PM
OOC: Any spell I cast on myself can affect Triton(as long as I stay 5ft away or less). For the first day Mearran would probly just cast on himself and have Laynie ride triton, Since he keeps one spell handy for defense, he can change tomorrow. On anouther note if we're still not sure on the spell, we could always ask KB, if he/she's still around

Hewj grumbled to himself as he made his way behind the group. They had already stopped at several vendors, and from what he could make of it bought every last bit of rations and food as they went. His first thought is that they were preparing a party, but even the dim witted Hewj eventually realized they were instead planning for a long trip. He silently cursed his not paying more attention to those who gave hunting and tracking lessons in his old clan, but it was too late to dwell on it for too long. Hewj moved over one aisle of the bazaar, keeping an eye on the brightly colored human with one eye while he scanned the vendors for another who could provide him with more food.

There was once where his heart skipped a beat for a few moments. The crowd had grown thicker, and Hewj had lost site of his group. A quick run forward a few paces reaquainted him with the three others, who remained apparently oblivious to him a short distance away. He also spotted a new food vendor, and wasting no time quickly tossed down enough gold to cover the cost of it all. He spent ONLY SLIGHTLY more time shoving his new purchases into his pack before heading out to catch up with the group who had already moved on.

OOC: 5 gold and 5 silver for 11 additional days of food. Hewj has no real idea how much the party bought, and it will be interesting to see how he adapts later, I think. lol
(or a real chance at dumbest PC death ever)

Hewj could see the group was headed for the city gate long before they ever reached the last street. Hustling ahead he made good time, using his smaller frame and the fact he was alone to beat feet down the side avenues. Once his long spear caught in a low hanging rope, threatening to jerk the weapon from his hand, and a couple of times he nearly skewered a passerby, but all in all the trek was much easier than the group he was following. More than once he saw a horse that he would have LOVED to have liberated. Still, something told him he'd get no leniency as a half orc horse thief if he were caught, and so he continued on.

Even as he passed through the city gates he could see the recklessness in what he was doing, heading off to follow a group of people he didnt know to who knows where, for the gods know how long, to a place he knows nothing about. Hewj wondered if all those beatings he took as the clan runt had had an effect after all.

As he passed another man coming from the gate a spark of brilliance hit him, and he found himself asking the nearby gate guard "I say, what lies along this road?" For better or worse and armed with his answer Hewj set out the gate, looking for commoners he might walk near enough to conceal the fact he was alone.

OOC: This is my first adventure, do I just adjust my character sheet to reflect my purchases, and is there a format for doing so?

Rystil Arden
12-21-05, 10:31 PM
(OOC: In general on an adventure you don't just make the purchases, but to me, Orussus is like the GM's Kryptonite. OOC: On the free spirit thing, just be creative. He's following us for a reason, obviously, but is it hostile? (if it is, btw, that could be a potential problem, as all Player vs Player stuff has been nixed in general unless both parties were willing, and that's only happened once a long time ago.) Rystil Arden
12-22-05, 08:16 AM
(OOC: A warrior, sure, but Zaeryl gets in under that amount. I'd imagine you could probably shift some of the gear onto Triton if it was a close call...

Actually, I just checked the Monster Manual, and the designers gyp you, no pun intended on Vanitri, by choosing from the initial monster stat array of 11 11 11 10 10 10 to not put an 11 in Strength for the Light Warhorse. If you want a Light Warhorse that can carry 260 pounds, I'll let you have one, but you have to knock down one of the odd scores in Dex, Con, or Wis. May want to note that somewhere too in case the judges or another GM gives you a hard time about it)

(OOC: Not at all--it's a pittance. It's *heavy* though, so better make sure it doesn't weigh you down (you can give some to Triton too as long as he stays in Medium load). You may want to buy only part now and part in Fallon)

Bront
01-13-06, 08:39 AM
OOC: How heavy? I need to remember how much my poor horse can carry. never did grab his stats from the SRD

Rystil Arden
01-13-06, 08:43 AM
(OOC: Crazy heavy, 10 lb per day. Remember to give your horse extra strength because I let you put one of the 11s in Strength (the SRD light warhorse put a 10 in strength and the three 11s in useless places))

Rystil Arden
01-13-06, 08:45 AM
(OOC: Oh, and another option is to be buying more feed at these rest stops along the way. It's a bit more expensive there, but maybe worth it if you can keep very little feed on hand at once.)

Bront
01-13-06, 09:05 AM
OOC: that might be best, keep 2 days on each mount, and buy it as we go. What's the bill so far for doing it that way?

Rystil Arden
01-13-06, 09:13 AM
(OOC: 2 gold for the first 2 days for both mounts you bought in Orussus, 4.5 gold for the next three days of purchases on the road, leaving you with 2 days worth of food per mount and only 1 day to go to reach Fallon :))

Bront
01-13-06, 09:15 AM
OOC: I thought feed was 3 copper per day?

Rystil Arden
01-13-06, 09:24 AM
(OOC: Three was a guess, but 5 was the correct amount...Wait a second...did I say gold? I meant silver! So 6.5 silver!)

Bront
01-13-06, 09:36 AM
OOC: MUCH better. ;) Ok, I'll mark that off in due time.

Rystil Arden
01-13-06, 09:48 AM
*The trio rests in their makeshift campsite, and during Vanitri's watch, a patrol of Road Wardens rides through. One of them hails Vanitri:*

"Greetings travelers. May I ask why are you resting out here on the wet ground instead of staying at a rest stop. The road can sometimes be...more dangerous at night."

Bront
01-13-06, 09:56 AM
"There's something special about sleeping in the open air. And besides, we're making much better time by passing the rest stops. I appreciate your concern my friend, but we are fine, especialy with you watching the roads."

OOC: Diplomacy +4

Rystil Arden
01-13-06, 10:06 AM
"Well, I suppose you'll be okay...just please keep enough to the side so you don't block the road, okay? Freefolk are ya? Mongrel bless you on your travels, friend."

(OOC: Diplomacy 19 + 4 = 23 :))

Bront
01-13-06, 10:34 AM
"And you as well," he says with smile and a wave

Rystil Arden
01-13-06, 10:36 AM
*The group continues travelling and at twilight, as the sun begins to set in the distance, they reach the sunken city of Fallon.*

Bront
01-13-06, 10:37 AM
"What do you think Laynie? That's certaintly a big city."

Rystil Arden
01-13-06, 10:38 AM
"What city is this? Why's it all down in the ground like that?"

Bront
01-13-06, 10:42 AM
"It's the Sunken City of Fallon"

Rystil Arden
01-13-06, 10:56 AM
"Fallon?" Laynie nods in recognition, "Mommy said that the wizards of Fallon were stupid-heads. When the Bentilusforlun said the ass-droid would attack, they were foolish to choose an ab your a shun based approach centred on a force field as opposed to a chronomantic diss torte shunel dial a shun to real line the apple gin dine amicks of the collie shun, don't you agree?"

Bront
01-13-06, 11:19 AM
"I've no clue what you just said little one." he says with a chuckle of admiration, rubbing her head. "Never studied magic."

LogicsFate
01-13-06, 07:31 PM
"Well, ya never know--'e coulda easily snatched up tha pretty little girl a yours and aten her, tha 'e could, or your cat.

Mearran britsles angrily "I'm not a cat" But drops further discussion

(OOC: Anyone interested in wares or too poor?)
OOC: Too Poor on my end, and I'm richer than Mearran

I choose to be poor, so hey unless something stand outs, Mearran will keep his.
OOC: LF, you'll have to pay your own way

Do I owe anything now?

"What do you think Laynie? That's certaintly a big city."

"It's certainly is"

don't you agree?"

"Sounds like it might be right" Shrugging

OOC: Either of you use stealth mode? I was going to switch to a color a bit hard to read in stealth.

Rystil Arden
01-13-06, 10:29 PM
"I'm not sure what it is exactly either, but it must be right because Mommy said so!"

(OOC: Nope, no stealth for me :)

Oh, and you owe nothing because Bront paid triple for everyone ;))

Bront
01-14-06, 06:16 AM
"Well, this will be your chance to learn won't it?"

OOC: No stealth here.

Rystil Arden
01-14-06, 07:19 AM
"Huh, it will?"

Bront
01-14-06, 07:40 AM
"Yes, the Accademy should be close."

Vanitri looks at his companions, "Shall we?"

Rystil Arden
01-14-06, 07:42 AM
(OOC: Actually no. Fallon has a wizard's school, but the Academy you are looking for is the next stop ;))

Bront
01-14-06, 08:29 AM
OOC: Fixed :)

Rystil Arden
01-14-06, 08:30 AM
"Uhh, shall we what?"

Bront
01-14-06, 08:33 AM
"Continue? No reason to stand her and gawk."

Rystil Arden
01-14-06, 08:36 AM
"Oh, okay...but it's almost dark now--don't we want to rest here?"

Bront
01-14-06, 08:45 AM
"I guess a room and food at an inn wouldn't be bad for a change. How's that sound you two?"

Rystil Arden
01-14-06, 08:50 AM
"Okay!"

LogicsFate
01-15-06, 06:06 AM
"Resonable" Mearran begins looking for anything that might say inn.

Rystil Arden
01-17-06, 08:36 AM
*The group passes by a large park before they find an inn called 'The Fallen Star'.*

Bront
01-17-06, 09:11 AM
"This looks promising." Vanitri says, as he looks for a place to put up his horse.

Rystil Arden
01-17-06, 09:14 AM
*Vanitri sees a small stable connected to the inn.*

Bront
01-17-06, 11:09 AM
Vanitri leads Rambler over to the stable.

Rystil Arden
01-17-06, 11:16 AM
*A young stableboy with a notably-missing front tooth greets Vanitri as he enters the stable:*

"G'even sir. Y'checked in a'tha desk, havya? A's a mighty fine horse y'got there."

Bront
01-17-06, 11:27 AM
"Aye, he is. No, I haven't checked in yet, was just about to. Make sure he's cared for."

Vanitri slips the boy a silver.

Rystil Arden
01-17-06, 11:30 AM
Many thanks, sir! I'll ta'good care of'im, y'be sure," the boy quickly pockets the silver.

Bront
01-18-06, 03:43 AM
"Good lad." Vanitri says, and then heads into the inn.

Rystil Arden
01-18-06, 08:12 AM
*Entering the inn, Vanitri sees a cosy-looking common room with a few tables of chatting people and a bar with stools and patrons drinking. A man behind the counter looks up and over to Vanitri.*

"Evening, sir. Looking for a room there?"

LogicsFate
01-18-06, 08:18 AM
"Yes!" Mearran says loudly, perhaps too loudly as he feels ignored "We'll need a room"

Rystil Arden
01-18-06, 08:20 AM
*The man looks down and sees Mearran and Laynie, then back up to Vanitri:*

"Oh, you have kids...the little girl is cute, but is the other one a...cat?...Umm, so how many rooms will you need, sir?"

LogicsFate
01-18-06, 08:34 AM
Quickly stepping in front of Vanitri, speaking loudly before he can anwser "We'll need one room, two beds"

Bront
01-18-06, 08:37 AM
"My friend here is a Katara. Apparently the are a bit rarer up here." Vanitri says, hoping to aleviate the Inkeeper's confusion.

Rystil Arden
01-18-06, 08:48 AM
"Oh...I see. I guess that sort of makes sense. Looks kinda like what you'd get if a wizard crossed a halfling with a cat or something...So you want one of our nicer rooms with two beds then? Sure thing sir and...uh sir and cat? That'll be four gold. Dinner and breakfast is included."

LogicsFate
01-18-06, 09:00 AM
Mearran mutters a bit while digging through his coins for two gold peices, pulling them out and looking over to make sure Vanitri has enough

Bront
01-18-06, 09:08 AM
"Must be a nice room. How about care for the horse? Or do i arrange that with the stable?" Vanitri says, as he looks though his ever shrinking money pouch.

Rystil Arden
01-18-06, 09:12 AM
"Well, it is a room for two, plus meals for all three of you. They'll take care of your horses at the stable too, all included."

Bront
01-18-06, 12:12 PM
"Sounds good." Vanitri says and hands over 2 gold.

OOC: Now I'm down to a gold and change

Rystil Arden
01-18-06, 12:26 PM
*The innkeeper thanks Vanitri, and the group reaches their room, which is fairly spacious, leaving more than enough room for Laynie to sleep on the floor, since they didn't get a third bed for her. There's even a chamberpot in the corner.*

Bront
01-18-06, 12:44 PM
OOC: With Mearran and Laynie being of small size, could they share a bed?

Rystil Arden
01-18-06, 12:52 PM
(OOC: Sure, there's enough room. Laynie's little enough to fit with either of them.)

LogicsFate
01-18-06, 08:19 PM
"I'm not a cat" Mearran mutters as he passes the keeper.

Entering the room, he lays his things down in the courner. Tired from the long ride Mearran laysdown there. As does Triton if no one complained about him in the building. "Anything we need to do before we leave tomorrow?"

OOC: Mearrans intentions all along, hopefully cutting a little off the final price by not getting the suite :)

Bront
01-19-06, 06:05 AM
"Nope, dinner and rest sounds quite delightful."
