Mountain giants are one of the more passive giant races and prefer to keep to themselves or mingle with their own kind. |
A mountain giant looks like a large, 14-foot tall, pot-bellied, muscular humanoid. An average mountain giant weighs about 2,000 pounds. They greatly resemble hill giants with skin color ranging from light tan to reddish-brown. Their hair is black and males have heavy beards but no mustaches. |
They seldom wash or repair their garments and the stale reek of a mountain giant can be detected at a range of 300 feet. |
A typical mountain giant’s bag contains 1d4+1 throwing rocks, 2d4 mundane items, and the giant’s personal wealth. Most everything in the bag is well worn, dirty, and filthy. |
COMBAT |
Mountain giant prefer straightforward combat and never attack from ambush or surprise. They prefer to fight from high, rocky outcroppings where they can pelt opponents with rocks and boulders while limiting the risk to themselves. Mountain giants thrown rocks have a range increment of 120 feet (see page 99 in the MM for rock throwing). |
Summon Giants (Sp): Once per day a mountain giant can automatically summon 1d10+5 ogres, 1d6+3 trolls, or 1d4 hill giants. |
Mountain Giant Society |
Mountain giants often lair in large, rocky caverns high in the mountains and rarely leave their lairs for anything other than food. Mountain giant families do not share caverns. Each family has its own in which it lives and several families close together form a loosely organized tribe. Tribes often trade with other giants or with groups of ogres or orcs to obtain foodstuffs, trinkets, and servants. |
