The marrashi make their home in the Outer Planes and rarely visit the Material Plane unless summoned.

A marrashi appears as 5-foot tall humanoid with the arms and upper torso of a human, the head of a jackal, and the lower torso and feet of a bird. Two large, vulture-like wings sprout from its shoulders. Its arms end in razor-sharp talons. Its upper torso is covered in gray fur.

COMBAT

Marrashi prefer to attack from the air using their bows. If forced into melee, they attack with claws and bite.

Special Arrows (Ex): Marrashis sometimes employ special arrows that inflict disease on an opponent.

Disease: An opponent struck by the arrow must succeed at a Fortitude save (DC 15) or be infected with filth fever (incubation 1d3 days, Fortitude DC 12, 1d3 temporary Dexterity and 1d3 temporary Constitution).

Create Spawn: An opponent struck by the arrow must succeed at a Fortitude save (DC 15) or be infected with taklif fever (supernatural disease, Fortitude save DC 20, incubation 1 hour, damage 1d6 Constitution). A victim that dies from this disease cannot be raised except through the casting of a miracle, wish, or true resurrection. If not raised, a slain creature rises as a marrashi in 1d6 days. A newly created marrashi retain none of the abilities it had in life.

The Marrashi first appeared in the MC Annual I (TSR, 1994).
