I bought two copies, which is the minimum I'll need to run a game. Since it is the PHB and
DMG in one book, and it has more information in it than the 3.5 PHB, it's exactly what I need to play. The fact that it only costs $25 for a 400+ page book is an extra bonus. I'm more than happy to plunk down the money on it, and I'll be buying the final version a year from now, knowing that my ongoing playtest will help shape the final.
Anyway, you don't have to pay at all. You can just download the beta and print up the parts you need.
