I was thinking more that the river even would be the "official" dividing line. So people travel up and down the river, but hug the western bank at that point. I tried to place the road like that specifically. It skirts around the Forest of the Bronze Dragon, and then crosses over to the Lawless Hills, which may be crawling with bandits, but at least it's better than walking through the haunted moorlands.
