I find Table 9-1 on page 162 of the 3.5 D&D PHB to be a bit obtuse and the formula to be wacked out. I know the table jumps at times to properly reflect for higher strength scores and thusly is reflected in my modified table as well.

Table 9-1: Carrying Capacity

Animals that normally have a Strength of 1, now have a Strength of ½.
Animals are the only creature type that are allowed of Strength of ½.

This modified table is used in Tale of the Twin Suns.
