Hmmm i stopped reading when you said skill dc's are fixed..

DC's are never fixed and should be adjusted by the DM per situation.

And have a party of 6 roll 6 times until someone beats the dc is the same as having one player roll 6 times or more to try and beat the DC..

And if you have the time, not in a threat or etc.. you can take 20 on most skills..
