Physical Qualities
The evolutionary past of the Averoux is canine; their knee joints are inversed which gives them a hunched appearance, though this may make them look slow and lumbering, they often revert to a four legged state for amazing speeds. They have large ears which protrude up and backward from the top of their elongated heads. Their snouts are large and rest above nasty looking jowls. They are covered in fur/hair that varies greatly in colour and length (usually dependant on their tribe). On average they stand 5’ tall and have a quite heavy build due to a very developed muscular structure; the females are slighter in height and build to the males. Their fashion clothing is similar in appearance to that of the Native Americans of our world; skins and homespun cloths, jewelry is crudely fashioned and often include feathers or bones, the bureaucrats of the noble tribes and the military forces adopt a more formal style of dress with sharp lines and high collars, leaning toward more contrasting colours.
Playing an Averoux Relations: The first major establishment of regular communication with an alien government was with the Human Empire, whose borders expanded to meet the Coalition’s 116 years ago. Accords were met relatively quickly due to the Coalition’s mineral rich colonies. They have been quick to adopt the strong economic structure of the Empire and have profited from frequent contact with the human mega corps. However, due to contact with human’s liberal values and concept of ‘rights’, a great power shift occurred and a civil liberation movement has thrown the most ruling aristocracy into disfavour. Through the Empire, the Coalition has also traded with the Union and the Sirian Alliance, but these contracts are only made rarely. The Coalition is still unstable at the moment and they are cautious about allowing other species too much influence over their development.
Territory: The Coalition is in fact made up of a fluctuating number of smaller provinces, each under the authority of one tribe. Once each tribe was ruled by a ‘noble’ pack, but only twelve of these now remain; those who were not able to adjust to the new liberal way of life fell victim to mobs of the angry ‘lower’ classes. The homesystem; Bataan, is considered both neutral territory and owned territory to each tribe. The homeworld is an extremely large planet with an Earth-like atmosphere and a slightly higher gravity (1.2 G). The world’s equatorial belt is also disproportionately large; the 3 central continents are covered in dense tropical rainforests which abruptly end at the foot of immense, snow covered mountain ranges to the north and south.
Technology: Although the Averoux have been space fairing for almost 100 years longer than Humans, their general level of technology hasn’t developed much since the discovery of warp travel. The Coalitions resources are constantly shifting from project to project as different tribes that come into power place emphasis on their personal goals.
The personality of an Averoux varies greatly depending on which tribe they hail from; usually relating to the climate and ecosystem of the area of the home world from which they originate, but in general their mood is quick to change; with people they deem friends, you would struggle to find a better companion, however their enemies; or any that are a threat to their friends, must face a vicious temper. Only recently, after a long struggle for the liberation of their lower ‘slave class’, have they began to communicate openly with other species and empires and many are still suspicious and distrusting of aliens, and the threat posed to their tribal culture by joining an intergalactic community.
