Hello,

Stole layout for this off of Estlor, sorry if thats a bit mean. I think its ok...right?

The Sly Fox (Foxkin Racial Power)
You feign a fall and dive around the enemy to attack him from behind
Encounter
Move Action, when adjacent an enemy

Effect: You move to the square behind the enemy gaining combat advantage for that turn.

Shy and often reclusive, Foxkin tend to keep to the forests. They have only recently made themselves known to the populous outside of the woodlands, the younger generation have grown somewhat restless, setting out on their own wishing to see the world and taste a life of adventure.

Play a foxkin if you want…

  • to be nimble and agile
  • to be a bit of loner
  • to be eager to learn and have an interest in the world
  • to a member of a race that favours the warlord, rogue and ranger classes

PHYSICAL QUALITIES
Foxkin resemble humans in many ways, they tend to be more slender and have never been known to grow quite as tall, their average height being around 5’5’’. Foxkin are not furred but their skin does have a slight red or golden shine to it, hair colour can range from a light orange to a dark red, their hair is very thick, often left wild and loose and they rarely wear it passed shoulder length. Male Foxkin usually sport facial hair, this grows white and they favour large sideburns or mustaches over full beards. Eye colour is in varying shades of yellow and sometimes blue. Foxkin ears grow like a fox’s, on top of the head and through their hair, they also have the large bushy tails of fox’s. Their nails are often hard, sharp and black on both hands and feet, much like claws however not retractable.

Foxkin favour dark earthy colours. They enjoy fine yet practical clothing and tend to wear a lot of buckles and pouches, to pick up little treasures they find on their journeys.

PLAYING A FOXKIN
Mystery surrounds the history of the foxkin, they have never felt the need to pass down their history, their culture is very much based in the now, looking as far ahead as the next task or the next challenge. It has been rumoured that the foxkin are older than most civilizations, just not as large nor as provident as other races.

The number of foxkin in the world is unknown as most of them remain reclusive and keep to the deep woodland. They do not live in large dwellings together but live as a single family unit, the younger foxkin departing to make their own family. They tend to be fairly suspicious of foxkin not of their own family and rarely socialise with them unless looking for a partner or looking to trade.
Foxkin homes are hard wearing tents, made from the resources of the forest, this is so that foxkin can move if their location should come under any kind of threat, this rarely happens and foxkin families are usually in one place for most of their lives. Occasionally a foxkin will want to leave the homestead in pursuit of an adventurers life, foxkin are a very curious and inquisitive race, they desire to know everything about the world and long to explore.

Due to their curious nature, foxkin will pick up trinkets or bits of junk on their travels and store these to look at later. This can become annoying to a group as the foxkin is always stopping to look at a new root or a special kind of leaf or maybe just a discarded item.
Young foxkin are more curious than their older brethren and a lot less shy, they will tear around the place asking questions of anyone they come across.

Although wary around their own race foxkin tend to be warm towards other races if somewhat shy, they are more responsive amongst a small group of people rather than in large cities or any heavily populated area. If amongst crowds for too long foxkin can become irritable and erratic, they are much better suited to natural environments or large spacious buildings.
Once a foxkin knows he can trust a small group he will tend to them as if they were family and will be very protective of them. Despite this foxkin still prefer their own company and do not feel the need to overly socialise with the group while not performing a team task.
Foxkin mature and age at the same rate as humans.

Foxkin Characteristics: Shy and reserved around strangers, solitairy, agile, perceptive, wild

Names: Names are usually one syllable long or two words strung together, ie. Pim or Nighteye, foxkin name themselves.

Cheers dudes and dudettes.

Some comments.

1) Follow the Quarry is a bit over powered.

2) The Sly fox is cool but since 4e doesn't use facing, which square is the back? I'd switch it to shifting any square adjacent to the enemy.

3) The situational perception test could be larger in my eyes, particularly if you dropped Follow the Quarry. Maybe drop both and make it a big bonus to tracking (scent anyone?)

my main concern was with follow the quarry, im coming up with some feats too, so prehaps I could incorporate that. Will also change the sly fox to shift one square adjacent enemy and combat advantage.

good idea with the tracking, its kinda what i wanted to do but thought if it was a totally awesome bonus then the race would be far too overpowered with follow the quarry also.

thanks!

oh and, do ya think its a bit to heavy to have something like a +5 to perception checks to detect nearby creatures while outdoors, +2 in the city.

now i just have to find a group to try it out in. boohoo.
