This is an incredibly superficial reading of both Fate and 5E Inspiration. You're just repeating your "a cat is a horse because they share X features" syllogisms. I have cited mechanics. I have described what they do. If you honestly can't see the difference, then I certainly question your grasp of both Fate and 5E D&D mechanics. If you would like me to do your work and show you how Inspiration...

I'm frankly baffled how anyone can think that fighters are the DPS king of the fighty types. Every other class will outshine a fighter wihin its own niche. Rangers out damage all but the most twinked out fighters at range, barbarians out damage the two weapon fighters, and a sword and board fighter can't hold a candle to a paladin. So, the sorcerer is out DPRing the fighter? Who cares? So...

Ah, I think that might be a special case, a side effect of the magic item he used, he's not a normal demigod, or he had enough worshippers to ascend to lesser god status at some point after he's used the magic thimbul, after all he created an entire race to worship him.

How about a Mind Flayer being at the center of this "hive mind"? It is more powerful than the doppelgangers and crucially, its psionic powers allow it to see through the doppelgangers' shenanigans. The illithid recognizes that it can't infiltrate society because of its monstrous appearance so the doppelgangers are the perfect tools in that regard. The doppelgangers kidnap and replace people...

Youíve pretty much nailed it - as a keyword system, if it makes sense, the itís valid. But the GM gets a veto, of course. Re. the second question, you have to do the career steps in order - attributes, skills, then exploit. The doubling up rule only applies to the second step.

Paladin starts balanced up to about 4th level but then gets a big bump at 5th (second attack, extra 5hp lay on hands and 1x1st, 2x2nd level spells - fighters just get second attack) then seems to just get incrementally more powerful each level. They end up at 10th+ nigh invulnerable to magic and at 14th they get auto dispels. 5th as above - goes to paladin 6th bonus to all saves & +5LoH vs...

I think one reason you create a nightmare world is that whatever changes you make to the timeline, in that new timeline, your characters need a reason to go back in time and change the timeline in order to avoid duplicating yourselves when you return to the present. In Timeless for instance Wyatt Logan tried to go back in time to prevent his wife's murder, so he went back to the 1980s to prevent...

Given the way warlocks work and various other things, I would surmise that WotC sees a strong qualitative distinction between 1st-5th-level magic and 6th-level-plus magic. That's clearly where the restriction in the spell point rules comes from. A full caster's eventual ability to get multiple 6th- and 7th-level slots, at the very highest of levels, should probably be regarded as an extremely...

I think the way to interpret the examples of "driving to the store" or "changing a diaper" would be as the equivalent "easy adventuring tasks for an adventurer given an uncertain outcome and a meaningful consequence of failure." Not that the tasks themselves are necessarily mundane, have a certain outcome, and no meaningful consequence of failure.

TallIan, I kinda decided it didn't really work timewise. I was considering making Rorik's parents courtiers to the lord whom Sennt was vassal. So Lindrel would know Rorik only if he also attended court when Sennt was there. So it seemed slim for that to be. But there's no reason why it couldn't. Sure. Just have her song jog Rorik's memory of her and Lord Sennt.

I disagree. I think it depends on the rules that are in play. The 1e DMG explicitly instructs the DM to not be bound by the dice. Yes, you should generally follow up them, but if they didnít make sense, then ignore them or use them as a guideline. If the rules explicitly allow something, then itís not cheating.
