Terry is certain that the road they were on before will lead the party to the old quarry. It was probably the same road the workers used getting from town to the quarry years and years ago. It is less than half an hour before they find the dugout remain of an old slate mine. A huge square hole was dug into the earth and at the base they see a large natural cavern entrance to the mines. ...

I definitely think that it would be worth asking JC about the invisible dragon situation if anyone uses Twitter. It strikes me as an interesting edge case where DM ruling is probably needed over the letter of the rules, but I'd be intrigued to know what he says in response.

As pointed out, the sequence is entirely legal by the mechanics, but is pretty ridiculous when you think of as what the character actually is doing every round: what it would look like in a movie for example. Once-off: the character booting one foe to stun them, flipping their sword into the air or sticking it into the ground, shooting another foe, reloading and shooting again, then snatching...

Interesting. The way the wording is in the PHB, I'd probably agree that, RAW, that doesn't work as two-weapon fighting. However, I'd probably rule it the other way - sure, what you have described is two-weapon fighting, but no way it gets the duelist benefit. (Based on how I understand the spirit of the fighting styles I don't care about the sheathing/drawing shenanigans - you are attacking...

Just as well that the range of deities available to clerics aren't limited to only gods then isn't it? Having said that, someone in another thread was talking about their warlock worshipping Mitra. If that god is a reflection of the real-world Mitra, god of covenants and pacts, then multiclassing to cleric has a pretty good pathway for that character. (You could even allow a gradual...

Nup, thays not it either. As the system stands, youd have to forgo an action on your turn and set a trigger, such as "i attack the first person to come into range of me". And then if that happens, they can use their reaction as well to make that attack. However if no one approaches that pc, then their action is wasted. As others have mentioned, the main selling point of reincarnate is that it works on a body part. Raise dead requires a full body, while resurrection is really high level. For these reasons, reincarnate was used multiple times in my campaign. There are no clerics of 13th level around, so it was the only way to bring back ruined corpses. And interestingly, none of my players complained that their...

AFB ATM, but some magic items say that they allow you to cast a named spell (and using them would pop invisibility), and some just work like a named spell without saying that you cast it (and using those would not pop invisibility). I have never seen the lack of a body be the reason for reincarnate. Reincarnate has only been used IME when only a Druid is available, instead of a Cleric. Most players have a specific idea in mind, and randomly altering the race can really mess it up, both mechanically and socially. I had a paladin in 3E that went from being a human paladin of the god of beauty to a freaking kobold. Putting...

Because you know a lot of people arent going to give up an action based on a chance someone will set off the trigger they tried to predict before the turn started. The idea is that depending o what happens, the characters may have an optio to react to what enemies do. I thought that part was obvious

Whereas in your game you frame the entire dungeon as a whole and then cut straight through to the room with the map, the other style is to frame the dungeon as a...

1 attack doesn't necessarily map to one swing of a sword, after all that would make for some incredibly slow duels at low level. So in situations like this we usually see highly skilled fighters as simply having more combat force, in a way that lets them distribute it to multiple enemies if they want. So when they put "multiple attacks" on a single target they might swing their sword a dozen...

You seem to be agreeing with this rather rigid view of the term, given the below line. What I'm trying to illustrate in the example is that if the player has the ability to inject fiction on that level (what you referred to as DM agency), more options become available to the player and so naturally this increases the number of action declarations he/she can make and is thus able to...

By the wording in the PHB on TWF, it seems to indicate that you need to be holding both weapons when you take the attack action in order to get the bonus action attack. You'd have to take the attack action first and then the bonus action attack. Whether or not it's worth it to jump through the mechanical hoops to get two fighting styles just for such a minor benefit is another matter entirely.

When I've done it before, it was essentially role-play. The number of enemies was more a function of "Has everyone had a chance to get in on the action?" than any sort of specific number of bad guys. Statistically, if I roll enough dice, the enemies are going to crit, so instead of rolling for it, I just narrate in the enemies getting some good hits. The players get to do the same, once...

So i would say the overall series you are describing is not RAW.
