What superhero movies do a really great job in your opinion and why? And I'm going to go out on a limb and assume these movies would have none of the flaws you called out for BP... right? Lanefan, if you don't want to talk about how authorship takes place, that's fine. If you think that Robert Downey Jr telling you about his character's motivation is the same as talking to Iron Man, that's fine too but a bit weird. But you can't talk coherently about the processes of RPGing without talking about authorship, and without acknowledging that an author describing a character's...

A low, ethereal moan rises from the cold depths, and a barricade built of masonry blocks and crudely quarried chunks of stone partially blocks the wide, low tunnel to the east. This legend would be unknown to...

I don't know what you mean by "an objective line on that consistency" - but imagining things clearly is a "brain function" ie an event that occurs in someone's brain. I don't know what criteria you have in mind. Are you simply meaning that it is possible that a boy walked up a hill? I decided that the mathematician can't be in two places at once. I also decided that the mathematician can...

Raven Queen is a popular entity/deity and its no wonder that the devs are looking for a way to bring it into the damn mess that is the general D&D cosmology/Great Wheel stuff and settings in general. The problem is that most of the settings have already their own gods of death and a bunch of lesser/minor/irrevelant deities that have death in some way in their portfolio. On the other hand they...

Honestly I'd settle for more clarity and learning how this plays out in the Forgotten Realms where the Raven Queen has never been a player, where the Shadar Kai in my opinion where far more interesting then they ever were in Nerath/Nentir Vale setting, because they served a far more diverse set of Gods and there were different groups of Shadar Kai, they weren't all servants of the Raven Queen....

No. Someone wrote the book. That brought into being (through a complex series of causal processes) a volume in the hands of your wife, with words in a language that she was able to understand, with the result that your wife was caused to imagine the events that those words described. Imagining those events caused your wife to get upset. Your wife being upset caused her to throw the book, which...

This is another, very clear way of putting the point I tried to make in the OP - the dungeon is a very (I woudl say artificially) constrained environment, which makes it possible (if the GM and players share the same basic conceits of play) for the GM to manage the connections that you talk about. But as soon as we start having adventurese take place in what is (notionally, at least) a "real"...

Given that it is only 10 days of instruction, is the goal to teach 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons, or to use RPGs as a tool to build other skills? If the class lasted longer or had few students, 5th edition would seem more doable. But also, if the class does well, it might lead to a bigger course to build off of the last. As an...
