Do you want to be cool? Be a sorcerer. I’ve seen wizards. They play almost exactly the same at higher level as they do at low. Sorcerers change more I think. At low levels sorcery points might be few, they add versatility but at high levels the almost unused 1st and 2nd level spell slots get to do something useful other than spamming shield.

I think one area that's ripe for a fighter is tool use (and yes I know everyone can gain tool usage, but the incentive for the Fighter to gain them so they have more to do when out of combat is higher than for other classes). It's something which can be learned in downtime, and which has potentially much wider application than I suspect a lot of games use/exploit to their most advantage. ...

It would depend on how a player describes using imagination in response to a scenario by the DM. A low Wisdom character might be very imaginative, but they daydream to much to notice what's going on around them. Likewise a low Intelligence character could be very imaginative, but not able to recall anything they read or heard yesterday.

I don't follow the forums, but I doubt AL/PFS could 'take over' Gary Con lol. IMHO, AL has been the weakest part of Gary Con in terms of GM quality. That being said, expectations in an organized play setting should be different than a home game or stand alone outside of organized play. They all offer different experiences, none of which are 'wrong' or 'better', just different.

But it's not strictly better at low level, it's almost strictly worse. The fact that it can do something else at the cost of being good at this just means both features are bad. I'll take one good feature over a feature that barely competes if it uses all of a resource shared between features. Metamagic is good, but then you've no answer to Arcane Recovery as a class.

You're missing my point. Sorcery points are strictly better than Arcane Recovery. They can do everything AR can do, and they can be spent instead on metamagic, which AR cannot. They are indisputably more versatile; and since sorcerers generally prefer spending SPs on metamagic instead of spell slots (even to the extent of burning slots to get more metamagic!), that suggests they are more powerful...

Especially those that put CN on their character sheets. :) But really if you roleplay a guy trying to be really good who even succeeds at it most of the time, but can't stop occasionally brutally murdering someone, you're roleplaying an evil character.

Some online are saying that Spider-Man/Peter Parker got into the illusion BEFORE Nick Fury shows up (cause he is part of the illusion - could still be "dead"), and a reason the Spider-senses did not go off. And if the fight with the elementals are part of the illusion or part of reality. See, I am a "good guy" misdirection.

I actually think 5e had the right idea in folding companion actions into those of their masters, both to limit power and to avoid adding length to combats. In this case, I think the issue is that the wording interferes with another avenue for the ranger to pursue (TWF), and my guess is that was unintentional. Hence, I agree with allowing offhand attacks with a companion’s attack.

I'm glad he did, because this is an excellent point to be reminded of as the social encounters ramp up in my megadungeon. ( I probably won't inflict that last sentence on my players, though, as I don't want too make rulings that encourage the players to split up)

Forge from XGtE makes for a good tank. You get some good spells for melee and extra damage at level 8. Life is solid too. They can hang out in melee and keep their allies alive. You also get extra damage at level 8.

I am about to venture into the realm of the cleric. As with warlocks, I greatly prefer melee focus. I understand other choices might be "better" from an optimization perspective but this is the class and the focus for me. i would like some suggestions about making a better melee focused cleric. I had a tempest cleric get to fifth level. I am more interested in war cleric or arcana cleric....

If you have access to some of the Eberron Campaign books, or search up the eberron wiki, there are two sects of Druids you could look into for inspiration here: The Ashbound and the Children of Winter. http://eberron.wikia.com/wiki/Druidic_sects

Fair enough, and if it's a sentiment Ovinomancer shares, consider me less baffled. For my part, I'm arguing from a position of idealism and theory more than practicality and experience. I haven't tackled a player request of this nature myself. I would be a little wary, but I don't think it would be logistically much different than a chainlock's imp.

Yep. I have to say that as someone who has always hated pets, and pet classes (Rangers with Pets, Necromancers, Summoners etc.), I am not horrified that 5e dumps so hard on the Beastmaster. But even my cold heart feels a twinge of sympathy for those who like pets getting shafted so hard.

Thomas looks at the woman as she speaks. He nods to his two new friends and makes an agreeable gesture with his head toward the offer, though he does not yet speak. He picks up one of the fallen Hudus and pins him against the brick wall, holding him up by the neck using his left hand, while he rifles through his clothing with his right, looking for cred, weapons, or anything useful.
