Had similarly low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Iíve only watched the live action films and so Darth Maul was a bit of a curve ball given that he died in Episode I. (And wouldnít Palpatine have known if his apprentice had survived??? Given that we know heís not going to discard an apprentice that is more machine than man.) It did feel very tick box and ends with everything...

Ok before I get started I know that Unarmed strikes to not count as Melee weapons. Now that that is settled why can I make a melee attack with something that is not a melee weapon ( Unarmed strikes) ? Before you bring up tavern brawler that turns mundane items into improvised weapons which count as melee weapons. Also why are PC's with natural attacks held back in the melee weapon attack...

My Grognard view: A oath of ancients Pally (if i would allow it in a campaign i dm) is the fanatical Version of a druid. He fights rigidly everything which threatens nature, that means all unnatural things like undead but also a civilization expanding to much into the forest. Best race for that one would be elf, of course. Since These roles are already very well covered by druid and partially...

Mrodron started a thread No ASIs, only feats
This is a question for those experienced players/DMs who find the game a bit too easy because of feats. Has anyone considered banning ASIs and allowing only feats? (Typically, it would be just the other way.) Let's assume that point buy will be used. Without ASIs, to get, let's say, strength of 18, one would need two feats that each give +1 to STR. GWM on top of that, and the -5/+10 has...

Allowing politics but cleaning out right-wing extremism (that goes under the deceptively neutral name "conservativism" in the US) is a perfectly reasonable stance to take that needs no elaboration. I don't know what Gygax had in mind, but as presented in D3 mezzodaemons and nycadaemons are not distinguishable from demons: they're evil beings from other planes that the drow seem to enjoy hanging out with. In Gygax's DMG, they appear in the glossary, but are described simply as "monsters" (the glossary entry explains that you can ignore them if you don't have D3);...

I wonder if people confuse it with being about balance because the developers have said that, when creating new options, they always balance them against the options in the PHB. Mearls brings it up a few times in his weekly design stream. I always thought it was about new players not wanting to be have to feel like they need to buy all the books to keep up.

Nah, that DC is fine. It's the same DC as Tiamat's breath weapons and the demon lords are just a little bit easier with a DC of 23 for most of them. If you're going to fight the avatar of a greater god then you better be prepared and hope that the cleric can restore the sight of anyone who was blinded.
