I'm not so worried about that. I'd allow the forced movement by the Reverse Gravity spell to activate the passing through each layer. I'm more concerned about the necessary vertical placement of the wall. You mentioned want to place it directly above them but it is only 1 inch thick. Are you assuming they are all next to each other perfectly to pass through each layer of the wall? The...

Have you thought about types of sorcery points? Like an evocation point, a divination point, etc. That would limit the spells that they can be used on.

Apologies if you feel unfairly singled out. My argument is: the game already makes a level 11 Rogue roll twelve sneak attack dice, per the Rules as Written, so I'm not adding any. All I'm doing is meant to narrow the gap between optimal and average players. Of course you are free to suggest a reduction of the number of sneak dice regardless. :)

I figured you were talking older editions, though there has never been a true restriction against metal for druids. They have been able to use daggers, sickles, maces with metal heads, etc. since 1e. They've just been limited with metal, which does restrict use, but not as badly as paladins get it. And it's not even a moral limitation. Paladins on the other hand used to have truly moral...

Just read Prismatic Wall for like the sixth time. While it does say ...that's two sentences that conceivably could be interpreted separately. That is, the notion that forced movement can't injure a character (instead preventing passage, of course, to prevent zig-zag cheese), is not the only possible! "When a creature attempts to reach into or pass through the wall, it does so one layer at...

Yes, because we all know the movie will be horrible since the previous movies were horrible. After all the Captain America movie released back in 1990 was pretty horrible, so there could never be a good movie with super heroes, right? Throw together an ensemble cast, keep it light hearted but not silly, give it a decent budget but don't go insane and I'd say we have a reasonable chance for a...

Seems like you didn't read my proposal: I don't disagree with the central premise, that an increase to damage alongside a restriction to 1/round is a good idea. My proposal was (1d6)RogueLevel (ie, roll one dice them multiply it). I don't object to more damage, I object to having to count so many dice.

First, again, its not clear what your goal is other than more tracking related to tools. #1 - Ok so first off you can already buy tools from the equipment list in PHB. Sure it isnt just the martial types at the mercy of the chaos factor but there is far more success assumption with magic - ie both the metagame of he spent a limited resource he should get something for it which is not really unreasonable and yes the old "pervasive magic is more powerful, can do anything assumptions" to top it off. So the tool kit for the instant win is just bigger.

If you later reach a level that lets you choose a specialisation you might pick up the ability to learn black magic or...

In my opinion, "horning in on strength characters' territory" is what the Kensei is about. And making reach available for non-monk dex characters just feels wrong to me. Using a reach weapon from 10 feet and then moving in to 5 feet to attack the same enemy gives no benefit compared to moving in to 5 feet right away and make all the attacks from there. That is why I consider reach to be a very...

I'll grab the low hanging fruit. The latest Dragon+ from WotC has a free download called Winter's Splendor.

My Swashbuckler/Bladesinger loves that feature. Also, the wizard subclasses tend to do stuff no one else can, and wizards have the most versatility in terms of what sorts of effects their spells have, not to mention some spells that just don't have any other equivalent, like Magnificent Mansion, Bigby's Hand, etc. And yeah, being able to do rituals without prepping them is enormously...

I have no factual basis for this, but I think they are going to be pushing Ravnica hard in future products, I expect more books, I'm just not sure what they'll be.

The Fearless Five reference, though certainly noteworthy, ranked well down Respen’s priority list. As well the doppelganger and Rutterkin’s references to demons and deities...

I think that all makes sense. Some people are really worried about a monk-weapon with reach being OP and horning in on strength characters' territory, but IMO that just isn't a compelling argument. Using reach weapons isn't exclusive to concepts that 5e models as strength concepts. I'm willing to compromise with them to get a d6 finesse reach weapon, but that's it. I'm all for rogues getting in...

This sounds good, I'm really interested in Ravnica although I know nothing about the MtG worlds, cards etc... It's just refreshing to have something new to play with. Keep us posted on how it goes. I'd love to hear how it runs. One question, how do you plan to balance the group of adventurers from such a diverse group of Guilds? Actually, another question... how common is...

It is, but they (especially the Menzoberranyr) are always described as such religious fanatics that someone worshipping Eilistraee in the open would always be shut down and target of major persecution (and it takes nothing to just stab a doomsayer). Like, there was an episode when a secret follower of Eilistraee was found out within a noble house, and the whole house was marked for extermination...

I am working on a couple of assumptions: 1) That with a bunch of demon lords running around, the clergy is too busy trying to keep from being eaten (except for the ones being brainwashed into the hedonistic cults of Grazz't) to worry about relatively minor issues like the worshippers of Eilistraee. 2) Demon lords+madness=chaos, and chaos means at least a few people (or elves) will do new...

In D&D 3.* the spell says that you can speak any language. It doesn't say it has to be their "native" language, or first language. The only limit it puts are that you can only speak one language at a time (i.e. you speak a specific language, not some universal tongue that can be understood by all), and you can't speak to things that don't speak. So it isn't a "Speak with Animals" or "Speak...

I'm not sure what the benefit of this is? Have you read the Xanathar's Guide stuff on tools? It seems to accomplish the same goals, but more elegantly.

OK, an argument that is more than tradition, I can respect and engage with! I mean, rogues stab or shoot dudes with weapons, but they're not fighters. I'm not sure I quite get where you're coming from, unless it's that cantrips should vary in effect more than they do. I don't see how this relates to whether any given class should have cantrips. Even if we agree that the cantrips are too...
