Just Mitra. My patron is a solar out of Mitra's domain. As a logic, if you have a celestial warlock, you shouldn't have a CE deity (and if you are a feind warlock, no LG god, of course) OK, I see. Didn't get that. We wil see. But if the patron himself is a servant of the god to become cleric of, I have a strong argument. ;-)

There may be a couple of things I agree with here. There are no good official D&D movies - there are, however, movies like Fellowship of the Ring and Hawk the Slayer that scratch the D&Desque movie itch quite well. But the last time D&D had a great game? That's now. 5e's as great a game as AD&D 1e or 2e.

I love the idea of peppering your language with rat imagery, instead of having the PCs encounter rat phenomena in the game. Done subtly, it could be really awesome once there is finally a rat-reveal! Visitors to the town start leaving, like rats abandoning a sinking ship. The people who stay are caught up in the rat-race of daily life. When the party is buying provisions, describe them as a...

Thanks, that's a great idea! I can definitely have this as something found around town, maybe at the Hanging tree where the were-rat's ancestor was lynched. I'll probably have the PC's find it if they go there, and then they can get more information about the folklore from some locals. I love me some Skaven. :D Someday I will use them properly in a campaign. In fact, now that you...

Okay, see. Now you've gone and made me imagine a piece of moving make-up. I disagree with that statement. As soon as the player says he is a rogue that pulls out the wand and attempts to use it, that event has to happen in the fiction BEFORE you can roll the D20. If it doesn't happen inside the fiction, no mechanics are used to see the result because nothing happened to initiate those...

The players write their own script. They have full control over their PCs words and attempted actions. What they don't control, and which has nothing to do with player agency, is the stage setting(game world) and the results of their attempted actions(unless they have an mechanical ability that gives such control). No. What gives them agency is the ability to leave the paths and go or...

Show me an example of the effect of a successful fireball effect coming AFTER a use magic device declaration by the player with no fiction happening at any point prior to the fireball. This is not the same as the situation I am talking about. Try the situation I laid out above. If you are thinking about the fiction, the fiction does in fact exist, even if it exists in an intangible state.

I think using Pathfinder or 3.5E as a starting point is perfectly fine. I assume that is what Sane Magic Prices have done. It is also not what I intend to do :) After all, Sane already exists, so if "items like in d20" is your thing, you don't really need a completely new 5E-specific paradigm as the one I'm trying to create here. Cheers

Do note that this has been what every edition of D&D has resulted in, regardless of whether there's been anything to spend it on or not. Admittedly, the design "style" of B1 and many of these thin, early modules will seem lacking to those used to modern adventure path writing. One does need to remember that it was the first module TSR produced (I believe) so its not as if they had a tried and true template to follow. I'd say, for its time, it does a reasonable job of teaching the fledgling DM how to build and stock an old school...
