@pemerton, Shasarak The gravity conversation interests me if only for the two points that immediately come to mind. 1. Gravitational forces assuming 1G constant will not prevent really large things from flying given enough lift and thrust. Similarly it will not prevent large bone and muscle mass creatures from evolving given the right circumstances. 2. Whether or not something is...

Once a long time ago a young Zard in the late 90's picked up a game called MtG and played through Tempest block to around Alara or just after (when they released Jace the Mindsculpter). So the question I ask is why Ravnica? The idea of a duel MtG/D&D crossover has been around for around 20 odd years or longer but picked up steam after WoTC bought TSR which gave them the rights to D&D. As...

It's not that players would refused to play with him once they know his philosophy; most of them probably just say "Whatever, man...". Elephants aren't bipeds, and don't have legs with the proportions of giants' legs in most fantasy. I live in Australi. If there are land arthropods in Australia the size of D&D giant scorpions, I've never heard of them. Biology is not my strongest suit, but this webpage reads to me like it's pretty sensible, and it suggests that 4 kg is towards the upper size limit for a land arthropod.

Seriously? I gave XP to your OP and replied to it. Nonsense. Most classic D&D play is in either author or pawn stance - the player makes a decision for the PC because it will help beat the dungeon, and then there may be retroactive attribution of the relevant desire or motivation to the PC. Actually read, or reread, pp 107-109 of Gygax's PHB. All the advice there, which is aimed at AD&D...

You will still need candles/oil lamps if you want to have light in 2 rooms in the house at the same time. Same as if you want to go out at night. I'd be wary of this rule, just because of the potential for dipping to get the front-loaded features of several classes. At the moment, the number of multiclass exploits in 5E is pretty limited. Most of them involve warlocks, due to the decision to make eldritch blast a spell instead of a class feature, and the creation of the Hexblade patron as a kludge to fix Pact of the Blade. This opens up...

I don't think it would be too strong, if anything it's probably weaker than choosing a terrain since you're essentially put at the mercy of the DM in terms of what spells you have access to. If I were to implement it, I'd probably say that your active terrain only changes when you finish a long rest to limit the amount of bookkeeping (and avoid weird questions about where...

I am considering making a Druid as a backup character. After reading the Circle Spells class feature provided by Circle of the Land archetype, and confirming that this is the only class feature in this archetype that requires a choice of terrain, an idea fully formed in my head. What if instead of choosing a "favored" terrain, you simply gained access to the list of whichever terrain you happened...

So a multiclassed fighter could possibly get 2 ASIs on the same level?

Realisation began to dawn on Zadolix at what the Kobolds were doing. Steeling himself and moving to the corner he lifted his handaxe out it's belt loop. holding it aloft ready to throw at nearest yipping voice he could hear round the corner. With a bated breath he darted out of the corner throwing his handaxe. I'm a dwarf so only 10ft movement left! I'll finish my move at CC25 and throw my...

Considering it kept Asherah from death, that’s probably good idea! The old man, who’s name is Reginald, seems to hesitate before answering in Sylvan. “The Hercules are not bad people. Um, far from it. They do much for the town. But they aren’t perfect. Lady Hercule is, shall we say, a free spirit, and Lord Hercule can be harsh with those who cross him, but it usually takes the form of...

The assumed basic setting of D&D5 is FR if I'm not mistaken. Most high level spellcasters should be dead due to cataclysms so lower level spellcasters would be in high demand. Even an apprentice wizard would be contracted by governments, mercenary groups and rich individuals to cast all their spells until the PCs are high level enough to create a continual flame spell shop for themselves. After...

Liam dismissed his Flaming Sphere and moved to one of the sleeping Kobalds, gently picking it up and bringing it to the road, out of reach of the fire. “Help me move them,” Liam said to the others. “They were likely defending their territory. And even if not, I’ll not let them roast in their sleep.”

Unregistered created an article Eberron It Is? in // D&D and RPG News Updates
We should hear more about D&D settings later today (including possible confirmation of the Ravnica setting), but it looks like Eberron is on the cards! There's no sign at present of a hardcover setting book like Ravnica, but it has been added to the list of settings available to Dungeon Masters Guild publishers. At least, not in the terms and conditions at the moment, but in the back-end settings...

Sorry to necro but I'm missing the 6th level ability here. Other than that I'm loving this version of the Protection Domain and currently it's being used by one of my players.

Content Guidelines still says: "Settings You can create setting generic content. You can also create content for Forgotten Realms (Faerun) and Ravenloft. You cannot create content for Eberron, Greyhawk, Dark Sun, Dragon Lance, Zendikar, personal settings, or any other D&D setting that is not specifically listed above."

I think that's been there ever since they merged the DM's Guild store with the D&D Classics one. Note that if you first select to filter products to the DM's Guild only, the setting sidebar becomes restricted to only FR and Ravenloft.
