My experience with 5e clerics has been different. One player I know plays a life cleric in one game and a light cleric in another and has commented on how as a life cleric he isn't needed to spend as many of his actions healing, because each action he does spend healing is more effective. If your experience is that clerics are only really needed for minimal healing then they arent healbots...

I have constantly referrred to "player agency over the content of the shared fiction". And have equally made it clear that if the player's sole agency is to declare line for their PCs, and to declare actions whose actual resolution is significantly or primarily hostage to unrevealed backstory authored by the GM, then the players have only very modest agency in the respect that I'm talking about....

It isn't about TRUST, it is about "what is the most reliable and useful process by which to translate the player's agenda and wants into the narrative so they get to play characters that address those things?" That's all it is about. Why go through the roundabout process of having a GM devise an entire setting in detail without reference to the players, and then try to translate that into...

There are about 60 posts (including 20+ "pemerton" quote and mention tags) that I haven't caught up on. I am responding as I read through them. You contrast here a specific goal for the players with a map that a player has suggested. Where did the "specific goal" come from? If the goal of play is something that comes from the GM rather than the players, then (everything else being equal)...

Not particularly facetious, although I did suspect that you might have been talking about a modern toy or small-game handbow rather than one of D&D's tech level and powerful enough to kill larger game or humans effectively. Quite frankly, while I have a rough idea of the poundage required, I don't know how realistic it would be to be able to apply enough strength to pull that. 200 plus pounds...

You don't have line of effect (what with the dome being opaque and not letting spells pass through) unless the hut is on a pedestal. 2.) The spell takes a minute to cast. I suppose it's not technically against RAW to have someone else cast the spell, but good luck getting a DM to consistently agree on that interpretation. But you can't use a scroll. Glyph of Warding requires a prepared spell. Meaning, only wizards, clerics, and druids are able to even use Glyph of Warding even using your interpretation.
