It should be obvious right?. Instructions are for losers, right? Don't read the instructions. I didn't read the instructions, and therefore I am the reason the poll has an odd number. .....Sorry.....

I don't think that's the point. I think this is about saying, "you are welcome here." My only concern with the approach taken is the risk of trivialising the experiences of the relevant minorities. But I'll leave that for them to say if there's an issue or not - they're better qualified. And what about the person who wants to play a transgender character but doesn't want it to be a big...

Obviously d12 is top, d20 second. If I could downvote then it would be the d10. It's not even a platonic solid! It's an interloper, a cheater, a crutch that we don't need. Back when I was alive we had a die with 20 faces numbered 0 to 9, twice. It might be that one set of 0 to 9 had a little + sign, or it might be that one set was coloured and the other wasn't, but this little beauty could...

As Magdalena peers into the hallway, she notes that the dust on the floor has not been disturbed in years. It is unlikely any living creature lurks here, and she starts to look back at her allies in relief when she notices that in the bend of the snaking corridor, there is the fine outline of a square patch of floor in the dust. Being 4 feet by 4 feet, it is probably a pressure plate and can be...

I'll point out again that this in no way actually represents any group of humans entirely, the closest would be the rare people who are born girls and turn into boys when they get a hit of testerone at puberty. Actually trans people can't change their sex daily, so that would be better represented by a background and a quest for a magical spell or item that can change their biological sex to...

Well, if I'm the GM and I'm no longer having fun, I'll tell my players and quite likely just quit the campaign. I wouldn't say it's a 'responsibility' of players to ensure I'm having fun, but it definitely helps if they don't get on my nerves all the time ;) There can be reasons that don't have anything to do with the players, e.g. a kind of 'burnout'. As always, talking to your players regularly...

We still meet. depending on what we agreed on, we'll either play a regular RPG session or turn it into an evening of board games. We 'solved' the problem for our RPG campaigns by having a pool of 10-12 players and we'd play if a certain minimum of players had time (three or four). Each player also had two characters so we had some flexibility and could ensure that a healthy mix of roles was...

If the group is 5 players plus DM, we play on with 1 down but cancel with 2 down. At 6 players + DM, we'd play on with 2 down. However, I'd also keep an eye on the situation - if we find that a particular player is constantly cancelling then there comes a point where it's better to discount that player from our plans (in which case we'd consider it a 4+DM group, which plays on with 1 down)....

In AD&D it is possible to be the player who does what I said - sits back, makes the odd comment, rolls the dice when a fight breaks out. I've played with these players! As MUs they're terrible, because they need someone else to help manage the spell load-out (both choosing, and casting)....

Well, no DM = no game, obviously; so the following only counts players. If it's a 2-player game (and I've run these) then both have to be there. If it's a 3-player game then I'll sail with just two but all three is far preferable. If it's a 4-player game then I'll always sail if three are there and will sometimes sail with just two. Anything bigger than that: quorum is half rounded up. ...

A lot of reasonable stuff is being said about quorum and regularity, so I'll take a different approach. Part of solving this problem, if it comes up often (though optimally before), is finding out explicitly just where your game night falls in individual people's life priorities. I've known one person who considered D&D about as important as a hot date with a long-time crush, and another who...

I guess he could roll for each lance to see how far down the shaft it breaks, and use the better of the two? If you had a pole arm, rather than a shield, I speculate that you could parry both lances with a well-timed sweep of the pole arm shaft, which might...

There would be less flavor, but let's keep in mind that we've never had subclasses until 5e (with the exception of kits in 2e maybe?), and the added flavor of 3e prestige classes was optional, but we were still able to create flavorful PCs. I disagree about the samey-ness. Feats are always individually picked i.e. every PC has different feats. All Wizards have the same class features, so you...
