All of which were spells. I rest my case. The fact is the only thing the Psychic Warrior got was a bunch of bonus feats and ALMOST ONE THIRD the psi points of the full Psion. All of the awesomeness was because the f****ng Fighter could use Psionics. About half the powers known and a third of the points available. It was a freaking 5e Eldridge Knight with Psionics instead of magic. *drops...

I perfectly understand the "official" 5e stance, I just don't agree with it. Adding intermediate gods is one of the few ways I deviate from 1e and accept the 2e (?) / 3e approach to deities. Of course, intermediate could exist, as you note below. These are fluid things, that can change on a designers whim. I was unclear and being a bit cheeky (thus the winking smiley face). I understand...

When I was DMing 3.5 I had a player playing a Ranger, and my only real experience with that class was the Baldur's Gate games, so I assumed the "Favored Enemy" categories were as restrictive as they were in that game. My player didn't bother to correct me and I didn't bother to read it to double-check until the campaign was mostly over. Last week I GMed my first Powered by the Apocalypse game...

Different people have fun in different ways. If I can take a feat that lets my wizard wear heavy armor in a meaningful way, then that changes everything about how looks and acts and perceives himself, even if the only mechanical benefit is having a high AC. I thought the fun of feats was that they let you customize your character in interesting ways, not necessarily that they add great...

Until then there are two types of gods end of story for...

Nonsense. The party sends it best man for the job. DC 10 Perception checks for the Rogue is a joke. Remember, we're not talking level 1 here. These modules can feature DC 10 even at tenth level!! Same with DC 10 checks for the face, or DC 10 bend bars checks for the Barbarian. I could never understand why they didn't just say "you automatically do it".

I have heard of players trying to play characters where they do not use any spells that require concentration and that gave me the idea to maybe run a game where casting magic of any kind is so difficult or draining that none of the spells that require concentration work. I'd just like to point out, there are optional rules for guns, on pp. 267-268 of the DMG. Not very good rules, but rules. A decent starting point at least. My current point of view is that attempting to model guns accurately is a bad choice, and the smartest thing to do is basically give a Crossbow some sort of mechanical upgrade, and require special training to use it. I.E. Hand...

The Bear Hug universal exploit only works on targets your own size or smaller, so if you feel like hugging an Ogron in combat, you need to be Large yourself too. Being Large also makes you immune to being the target of a Star Knight's Psychic Push exploit. On the other hand, the Trip universal exploit is better if the user is smaller than their...

No, I don't think so. You can definitely create strong conceptually powerful archetypes even if you have the blandest of archetypes to begin with. It's all in the execution, as they say. Merely faffing about "which subclass goes where" is... directionless, which is quite the opposite of what I want.

To make it work over a longer period, you need to isolate the Doppelgangers to keep their nature suspected, but unproven. I had a Doppelganger (technically half dragon doppelganger) as a major BBEG in my campaign world for...

I feel that there should be a reason for using different mechanics, or else you're just adding complexity for the sake of complexity. Much has been said in the past, of the value in rolling under a stat for making stat checks rather than rolling d20 and adding the stat bonus, but even that is unnecessary complexity. If you already have the concept of DCs in place for things like attack rolls...

However Archdevils are risking a lot by ordering Abishai around as they may be counteracting Tiamat's or Asmodeus's orders for them. And upsetting those two is not something an Archdevil wants to do.
