I guess that depends on what the player expects to get out of the action. Personally, when I take the Dodge action, my expectation is that enemies may choose to not attack me. If the player is expecting to still be attacked, and looking forward to imposing Disadvantage on the attack roll, then I could see why they might feel disappointed. A similar situation happened in my first 5E campaign....

Sunburn has never been handled well by the rules. Following the numbers doesn't feel like the IRL itchy experience. Heat exhaustion, heat stroke are similar. Drowning can be scary but then again the character is not in any distress at all from the moment it submerges until the critical turn when it 'loses its breath' and goes unconscious / loses HP. I have been able to manipulate 5e's...

That's a good one I hadn't thought of. Unless you have really excessive 'down the ravine' falls then they won't match real world scariness. I agree that's not one worth worrying about, though. Another one is that the 'bad guy has knife at the innocent's throat' technically suffers from the 5e dying rules. It's really a problem, especially since people usually have NPCs die at 0 hp instead of...

But I've seen people comment on this like lack of water is a major problem for all Tier 2 PCs, that it's something that should be a major plot point if it happens and not just 'oh well we'll use up 1 first level slot' or includes a caveat like 'as long as no one has a level of this common class'. It's also tier 2 modules that I've seen with the 'track your water before going into the desert'...

No. What I am saying is that the chance will fluctuate dramatically based on the number and distribution of short and long rests within f. A single DM can easily vary the number of encounters per day based on storytelling (and other) needs - this need not be a per DM variation. You are using the wrong numbers because you are ignoring a factor in them, so that it doesn't matter if...

The 20-foot drop is potentially a hit die or a low-level healing spell slot. It's only a threat to a character's life in specific situations (such as being very low on hit points), but like create water, it's a drain on resources and attrition is the name of the game.

Like "you're not dead but ain't going anywhere anytime soon" hurt. I've made my peace with the abstraction of hp but as soon as the PCs are 2nd level, 2d6 damage is no longer a significant threat. That said, if anyone has a water skin, that's probably enough to cast the spell indefinitely. And, obviously, it's not a problem if you're stranded on a boat. Good berry requires a 'sprig of misteltoe. Not readily available in a desert...or on a boat. So, if you...

Some fictional context and your overall goal with regard to the play experience would be helpful in coming up with something that'll work with your scenario.

Might be worth just starting from level 1 again, and keep them around levels 3-5 as that tends to be a sweet spot of having access to your subclass and a few powerful spells/abilities but nothing overly complicated. High-level spells can get really complicated, and everyone just has a...

For the Federation mobile suit plants idea, note that they would be located in space. So that would allow for more room for the facilities. I would think later, more advanced mobile suits like the AMX-014 DŲven Wolf or the F91 Gundam F91 would be preferred.

Counterpoint- no, it wasn't. For you to say that is rather ... prescriptive. Both prescriptive and descriptive have well-understood and useful definition when applied to multiple fields. Simply because you choose to have an idiosyncratic definition of one doesn't mean you are correct. For example, you seem to be misunderstanding HLA Hart's entire point- he was differentiating between formal...

Rhapsody of Fire's Triumph or Agony, with it's cover art by Jeff Easley, is handily my pick. The parts with Sir Christopher Lee make me a little sad now, though. The Fellowship of the Ring soundtrack would be my other vote. I had been out of gaming for a few years at that point, but that movie, no, the trailer for it alone, brought me back to Tolkien AND lead me back to D&D.

Possible spoilers ahead if you plan to play Curse of Strahd! Issue: where to go next Background: the Abbot invited the players to an "engagement party" for his bride to Strahd, and the party accepted. The Abbot believes a bride is exactly what Strahd needs, and he's worried Strahd's adolescent infatuation with Ireena might complicate the wedding, so he originally proposed the party drown...

Not necessarily, no. Specifically, there are games where you do not take on a role of one of the characters and all players have sway over all characters within the narrative. This would not be a role-playing game, but would be a story-telling game. You see, this is a problem with making definitions - you need to consider the *entire space* within which you are making your definition. ...

The CRs in Fifth Edition Foes, are, in general, a little off. The Demonic Knight is another one from there that hits harder than the CR would indicate.

Ana easily avoids detection of the servants they seem to caught up on their work to notice, they take the armour to what can only be described as a laundry room. Various expensive garbs can be seen hung up drying along rope and pull systems, a large copper pot dominates the center of the room with a wood burning fire underneath a elderly female human with scragly grey hair tied in a loose bun...
