Maybe... but 5E doesn't have a requirement for NPC stats to match the mechanics that are used for PCs. Most of them do, but their are other exceptions to these types of things in other published NPCs. It would be nice to know why when they don't match, but *shrugs*

As an action. I assumed that it would be used before combat - as in "oh, we're still adventuring? OK, I spend xx HD to regain a spell slot. OK, let's go!" However if a player made a compelling argument why it should be a Bonus Action, I could live with it.

Milestone advancement uses XP and awards it when the PCs achieve designated goals, complete quests, or when certain events occur. Story-based advancement awards levels for accomplishing significant goals in the campaign. It is relevant to this conversation to point out that your objection to an XP incentive for doing a particular thing is strange because the other methods are not meaningfully...

Without a thorough review, no way. With a thorough review, probably even less way. Not all classes put the same amount of their mechanical oomph in their subclasses. In many cases, giving an ASI instead might be overpowered; in many others, it might be underpowered. There isn't a simple "subclass features are worth x" equation to use in deciding whether a feat or ASI is more or less...

IDK the intent, but conceptually, 3.x MCing made class-levels into building blocks - a big step away from the inherent issues with class/level based design. The problem was that, to work, the next level of any class you had needed to balance with the next level of your other classes, and the first level of every other class, but 3e class designs were still mired in mechanics from the games...

More than likely, I'll revert it to her breaking into a shop or a house. I also caught a mistake in words "was a dressed" should be "was a dresser" and just set up her home life a little later.

What do you think of items that adjust Proficiency Bonuses? The obvious is a cursed Item of Ineptness which sets the PB to zero. And maybe applies Disadvantage to boot! :) But more reasonably, how about an item that provides some useful powers but reduces the PB by one? Conversely you could have an item that improves your PB by one (perhaps to a maximum of six or seven).

That would not work since the Subclasses need the Incovations. A Bladepact without the second Attack or damage-boost later on is useless. Also the Warlock Spelllist is very limited compared to the Sorcerer/Wizard.
