It is a bit of a minefield at the moment, mostly because (a) it allows people to be very specific about how they want their data used, and (b) it requires companies to be pretty responsive to any requests. It's quite possible that an existing, off-the-shelf forum system would struggle to cope with the new regulations, whether in terms of being flexible enough to support a whole range of privacy...

Generally, I would agree. However my current group has adult life attendence interference that really makes it difficult on the narrative to span a series of tightly-packed events across multiple sessions: OTOH, I think people don't give enough credit to encounters with hordes of lower powered adversaries. IME, those drain a lot more party resources than they usually get credit for. Sure,...

Aelon laughs with relief and gratitude, patting Artax happily. "I owe you one, boy. Or two, or whatever! C'mon, let's find a spot to have a rest for the night. Come morning, we'll continue on, eh?" And so he makes camp, sitting by a small fire to enjoy some meager but sustaining meal before laying down to watch the stars overhead. They are the same stars that he had watched as a boy, from...

Currently, I'm using an in-game incentive. The megadungeon's entrance level repopulates with demons and devils at an alarming rate. It essentially resets daily. And I roll for random encounters a lot - like, every fight might draw onlookers, every area might have loiterers, and then there are the wandering monsters. Again, you leave out the possibility that it's reasonable to establish Barry finding such an action fun. Barry could be an Outlander with whose Ideal is earning glory in battle for himself and his clan. I completely respect your reasoning, but do have to point out that nothing in the actual rules supports this. There is a specific discussion in the PHB about what constitutes an attack, and it does not mention hitting. Rather, it mentions an attack roll. The PHB rule does, however, limit itself to situations where there is some question about whether an effect is an attack. So if in your mind...

OTOH, a fire elemental can move through water and take only one point of damage per 5 feet traveled. So it's not like immersing it in water is supposed to be an autokill. If you start from there, it doesn't seem like a wave of water would do that much. I'd probably have it deal +4d8 cold damage on top of the bludgeoning.

After a Short Rest all spellcasters refresh one spellcasting slot of each level per level up to their Proficiency Bonus (so someone with a PB of 6 refreshes one each of levels 1-6). After a Long Rest all casters refresh one spellcasting slot of each level they can cast. I'm aware that some spellcasters don't get the highest level slots. Tough. How would you balance that?

There is actually a calculation to the damage. I came here doing research for an upcoming campaign. Tidal wave is 10x10 on the Face and it moves down the 30ft ramp so if you assume actual wave portion is 1ft deep thats 1 ft^3=7.5 gallons. So in a 10x10 grid that's 100ft^3 = 750 damage. More than enough to 1 shot it but it's way better than the DM plucking a number that "feels" right.

Somewhere between Cuteness Is Sorcery and Weaboo Fightan Magic - and the latter was one of "solutions" not addressing the real problem, only for "linear warriors vs. cubic wizards" thing. So there's also that. But it used to be a class feature. In that until D&D3, fighters get more followers. And that was a good idea.
