That was Pathfinder Daemons not Yugoloths, who are extremely different from each other, PF Daemons aren't mercanies and in some cases Demons and Devils will even team up to stop Daemons from destroying the universe. Despite being NE Yugoloths and PF Daemons would NOT get along, their forms of evil are incompatable.

The first sentence is a bit cludgey. How about: Expert Grappler (Ex): An aspect of Khalk'ru that chooses to grapple an opponent but remain ungrappled itself only takes a –10 penalty on its grapple checks instead of the normal –20 penalty. It may then make tentacle attacks as normal. Updating the Khalk'ru Working Draft.

When building my own adventures I see the flexibility of being able to break up the adventuring day into 3 or up to 9 encounters with my 4.5 Edition changes. However, one thing that I still feel is quite inflexible is the definition of the Extended Rest. I think it would provide a lot more control to the DM and adventure designer if you had more rest options, or "levels" of rest to play with. ...

My players are pretty on the spot with inventory management, so potions aren't an issue. As far as Scrolls are concerned, I make my players add whatever spell it is to the bottom of their spell list with (scroll) next to it. I generally also give my players Scrolls containing spells that they either wouldn't normally have access to, or ones that fill a gap for them. For example I gave our warlock...

My favourite boardgame is backgammon: I can do the maths in my head pretty easily, it plays quickly, and isn't too taxing! But wargaming requires the patience to build up a position, act without recklessness, etc. I suck at that!

I think the distribution does matter vs static DC exactly because it changes the probability of success and failure, if we roll 2d10 instead of 1d20, the probability of success vs high DC or failure vs low DC will be significantly smaller. OTOH I don't actually think that the triangular distribution of the difference in opposed rolls matters, because for those rolls by default it's not the...

Sorry to correct you, but this issue appeared over and ober again: There is no such thing as a surprise round. Surprised is a condition which you may have in the first round of combat when everybody rolled inititative. When it is your turn and you are surprised, all you do is becoming unsurprised. So you need to win inititiative to actually get to use your auto crit feature.

In my experience, both as a DM and player, consumables only get used when a character is out of other resources. So if they're out of slots and down to just cantrips, the wand or scroll comes out. If a fighter is low on HP and has already used Second Wind, that's when the healing potion gets used. Etc. So it's really about pushing them with "one more encounter".

Its not bad. 3 levels of warlock, choosing Bladepact Hexblade with Improved pact weapon is one way to get a magic longbow if your DM is stingy with such things. Along with all the other warlock goodies like spell slots that come back on a short rest and an invocation of your choice. Personally not a fan of Arcane archer, would prefer EK or battlemaster with this, but you do you.

I've been anxious to play Oath of Conquest. I think a Swashbuckler/Paladin build be a lot of fun too. You wouldn't HAVE to be a Dex build but I probably would do it anyway. You'd only lose 1 AC

The avatars, on the other hand, would still all likely have humanoid hit dice, or just as likely have hit dice based off their creature type. However, I'll include regeneration based off their position on the divine strata. Valkur as a demigod would have regeneration 20. Tiamat has renegeration...

The distribution doesn't really matter, though, does it? If you're rolling a d20 to hit DC 11, or if you're rolling a d20 in order to beat another d20 roll, you're still as likely to succeed or fail. Rolling a 1 when someone else rolls a 20 is not inherently worse than rolling a 10 against a static DC 11. Rolling the extra die does provide some normalization, so if one side has a larger bonus,...
