I don't really have a position regarding this specific website you're talking about, as I'm not familiar with it. It sounds like it's doing both legal and illegal copying and isn't bothering to figure out which is which, which ain't perhaps the best way of going about things. I am, however, all too familiar with the arguments that get trotted out every time someone talks about copying...

Teldarian Great summary of Ras Nsi! It's one of the big failings of the adventure that this his story wasn't fully laid out somewhere. I also had to piece it together from Jungles of Chult, Ring of Winter, wikis, and other sources. And even then, I never realized that Nsi's undead army was created from the remains of the Eshowe! That's especially grisly when you imagine him sending out zombified...

I would disagree with that take. From level 1-4 a dual wielding ranger without hunters mark does better damage than a longbow ranger using hunter's mark. From levels 5-10 the longbow ranger WITH hunters mark will just...

Be careful, though: You cannot use a bonus action for an off-hand attack unless you take the Attack action. If you take the Dodge action, no off-hand attack for you! I'm not sure I'm seeing the same problem as you are. An antimagic zone is to a wizard what a large pit in front of your opponent is to a melee combatant, or a windwall is to a ranged character. It makes it so they need to use strategy if they want to bring their best effects to bear, but it is nothing like a stun lock unless there is no possible way to get around it. In all of those cases the...

The original creator went M.I.A. after receiving a WotC C&D order, and the team that took over has not been heard from for some time (we are still waiting for a non-beta version with the Xanathar material). WotC wants you to use D&DBeyond and is actively suppressing cool (and free) tools like this one.

Why don't you keep it anti-magic - so it suppresses magic items but, instead of canceling out spell casting, it forces magic users to make a Concentration check. If they fail, the spell is ruined. You can set the DC. So, it's basically, the spell caster's force of will against the beholder's. Feats like War caster would help against this check. I can't find anything either, except hints that there is no standard. For example, Xanathar's offers up these possibilities as alternative spellbooks: "Long straps of leather on which spells are written, wrapped around a staff for ease of transport" or "Small stones inscribed with spells and kept in a cloth bag." That'd be a lot stones for even one spell if it couldn't be condensed from 1...

So we all know about how a normal Beholder's central eye creates an antimagic zone, and death tyrants create a zone where healing is impossible. But I was trying to think of something new for the beholder my players are about to encounter. I mean, the antimagic effect is powerful, sure. But nothing is more frustrating to a player than not having access to their abilities. It's one thing to...

In previous editions, spells in a spellbook took 1 page for each level of the spell. I can't find anything in 5E that indicates this. I do find that a spellbook contains 100 pages. And the cost to transcribe and copy spells, but not how many pages they take. Anyone know a source/reference? Is is still 1 page per level and cantrips take no pages?

You and Elf keep harping on this. I have repeatedly said that converting something you own the rights for to another format for your own use is not illegal or immoral. What I have always been talking about is the illegal distribution of copyright protection. Continuing down this line is ignoring the issue and throwing FUD into the discussion. One could argue that IF the website it was...

I would refer to seeing something "all the time" in this context of it was basically seen in most every significant vombst, not every action, not every trivial fight etc. I dont see it that often myself but it is frequent enough it's not forgotten. I would expect to see it more when tactics are built around it, like the spirit guards spirit wpn dodgey cleric or the AO tanky character....

I'm running Ashen Stars on a regular basis... The game is pretty specifically designed to play out rather like an Episode of Star Trek - if you know what a "procedural" TV show is, Trek is kind of a sci-fi procedural, and the system models that well. The starship combat is pretty ingenious, and it has the focus of combat just where an episode of the series would have it. What you are...

True enough. Dueling seems to me on the cusp, i.e. nearly good enough to take. Maybe it should be proficiency bonus, or +1d4 so that it can crit? As written, it adds about 2/4/5 damage per round (tier 1/2/3). Adding a +d4 would add 2/5/7 with the crit upside. Proficiency would add 2/6/11 damage. (That's all on a one-pristine-round analysis counting on Shieldmaster to sometimes give advantage.)...

I'm interested in this as well. Friend is starting a Tal'dorei campaign and it's wide open what to take. Especially want to know if any should be avoided due to bad mechanics or outside the normal power range (either too powerful or too weak).

Thanks for suggestions. Just checked some inexpensive devices. It seems that the price starts from 140$. As a creator I would consider buying one and learn the software as well. The question is if the regular users would be interested investing in a cutter machine? Especially if it takes about 10 minutes to make a single unit? Anyway, the little cutting friend sounds promising and I'll do...

Dueling is far from terrible. A +2 bonus to damage is pretty significant, in comparison to the 1d8+3 that you're otherwise dealing. The only real problem is that it has to compete with +1 AC, which is probably going to win out for anyone who cares enough about AC to choose a shield in the first place. A champion with Dueling and Defense styles is a solid choice that does its job well and is easy...

Soundlessly, a figure appears in the other passageway. The filthy looking hobgoblin's shape melts away to a faceless humanoid form. "How did you get in here?" it demands as its three pronged tongue dances in the air for a moment. With a greatsword and claw, it attacks Urik. As that happens a giant rat leaps past Drakus and attack Elkran. Drakus 1> Revert form 2> Sword Attack Urik 3> Claw...

An interesting thought popped into my head right away. Maybe the best way to foil the city's high magic is to avoid magic. Not always, of course, but for example: When the thieves need to spy out a location, scryiny will likely be caught so instead the thieves pay urchins and bums to scout for them. That sort of thing. In other words, maybe the city has invested so heavily in is...

Izzel originally built this as part of a larger structure in their research into summoning...

This campaign appreciates the flavor of the high-magic, but not necessarily the balance. Also, note that the magic items in the DMG are at least sort of balanced if you hand them out with the frequency they're in the DMG - you're simply very, very unlikely to be able to stack multiple AC bonuses because you won't find that many. So it doesn't matter that there aren't any stacking rules - they...
