Yes, but he’s still modifying the results. But I’m not debating exactly what the DM or players are allowed to do. The specifics are only relevant in relation to what the table agrees to. The point is simply that if the rules (published, house, table) allow something, such as fudging dice, then by definition it cannot be cheating because it’s playing within the rules.

I agree with a lot of what he saying here, and he offers some valuable insight, but then I also think of movies like Cool Runnings. Will they succeed in the end? You would think yes by standard storytelling conventions - and suspense builds in that direction - but it also turns out that they fail in the end due to their bobsled having a mechanical failure. Their "success" comes only from earning...

Seems like the US backers aren't going after him now. They're too broke to take him to court. It's even worse that you essentially have to take him to a specific court in New York. Everyone's so burned out from this KS that they've more or less written it off or forgotten about it. That may very well have been part of the plan as well.

To me, having not read the three pages - grouping armor and weapons and shields into package feats does not give them more. For all but a few characters, it just adds clutter. A wizard or sorc or rogue seeking "armor" isn't also (normally) looking for weapon attack optiins that tie up hands. So, count me with the "give it more things to do". I think of the constructor as the Star Trek ‘holodeck’. Objects made out of force. The main difference is, a kind of ‘phantasmal’ resonance. The constructor can also ‘pull’ objects out of an other persons mind, so that that person is especially impacted by the object, even while other people can see the object as well. If adding to this telekinetic mastery, there is awesome...

Maybe, but my point is that the 3E Lurk was boring and weak while the Cryptic is an imaginative take on the concept of a psionic rogue. If given the choice, I would hope that 5E would look more at what Dreamscarred Press is doing with psionics and not at what WotC did in some of their old supplements. The Lurk needs to be more distinct than the psionic version of the Arcane Trickster.

I concur with everything Aldarac said. Guns don't exist on Eberron precisely because it's a pervasive wide magic setting. What this means is that there's a ton of low level magic (1st through 3rd level), but high level magic is much less common. Why invent a gun when a wand does the same thing and is readily available? There was artillery in the Last War, just in the forms of Wands of...

The Lurk was a pretty terrible class in 3E. I would prefer that if there is a psychic rogue subclass, that it took inspiration from the Dreamscarred Press class, the Cryptic. But the Cryptic could also map nicely to the Warlock.

I strongly prefer character driven plots, and until session 0 has concluded, I won't do more campaign design than daydream some very vague ideas, and even those are likely to get thrown out unless they're particularly suitable for the PCs.
