Haven’t seen a thread for the cleric guide yet, but wanted to note that for your heroes feat spell you can’t do it every day without having a lot of disposable income due to it costing 1,000 gp per casting as it’s consumed.

Howdy Omeganian amigo! :) yes on all counts. Got a few ideas brewing for some smaller (Epic) Adventure Bestiary books based on ideas I meant to release 8 years ago with a few new twists. ;) By keeping these books smaller I can hopefully turn them around faster BUT I won't get any hopes up until I have a book fully written.

"Just a second, lets get the others in on this." The Kitsune image launched herself straight upward to hover in midair over the opening of the pit. "Hey guys, come on down! We found a seeeeeeeecret." Then, as the real Kitsune finished climbing down to the bottom herself, the illusory doppelganger plummeted back down and cautiously probed forward through the doorway.

I can be a hard guy to DM for... I have a bad tendency to bring my "A" game to the table, even when doing a beer-and-pretzels game. I sometimes forget to dial it down to the level of the current game and end up unintentionally hijacking it. One of the major symptoms of that is I sometimes get grief from the "screw the plan, I'm charging in" guys (and even occasionally just the "hey, I've...

I wouldn’t restrict Help to the helper having to be proficient. Just require that they have something relevant to the situation. As for bardic inspiration, the rules don’t require any specifics for a reason. If you want them to roleplay their abilities more, I’d start by telling them that, and letting them know that you’re going to require descriptions from them when they use abilities. ...

It's impossible for Lucky to apply to a passive check, because a passive check doesn't involve a roll on the part of the character. They are treated as having rolled a 10. It's also worth noting that Survival checks for navigation are generally taken against a set DC - the DM decides how difficult the task of navigating the current set of terrain is, and the character rolls to beat that DC....

Instead of changing that much, just make one or more of the three keys to the hoard hidden in the various villain lairs (the adventure specifically gives leeway to DMs to make up their own), and the heist is to get the key or keys. Elsewhere, I've already suggested using Sylgar as a key.

I forgot about the Bardic Inspiration. I suppose it could have protected Averiel from getting cut. I'll try to keep it in mind for now on. (Rather than back-tracking).

After introductions are made, Nalvis says, "Marmeren, we have lost our homes, which is why we were in this area and decided to stand against this threat. Let us know how we can help and we will." Mekric will look around the village and take note of significant things of interest. Arbrine finds a place where she can help keep watch for the approaching soldiers, especially if Quill needs...

The npcs tend to have tons of backstory, it's more that they are often horribly deployed. As if actual use in play is an afterthought.

Calm down. Yes, us third party pubs are doing fine. But it’s not the d20 boom, or even close to it, in terms of volume of third party publishers. And that’s not a problem, either way.

Just that if you ban MC, the guy at the table who WOULD have powergamed his tri-class munchkin is still going to have that attitude and that playstyle. It just means he's going to play an OP single class build (e.g. GWM/PM Vengeance Paladin). And if that guy isn't at your table, then it won't hurt to allow MC because anybody who does it will probably do it in a way you like.

I suspect that would make combat long and tedious as people rolled over and over looking for sixes.

I'd prefer you just outright ban it. Because I know your girlfriend will convince you, and I won't. Not you, specifically. Specifically that one DM I had some time ago. Ever since I can't see that sort of soft ban as anything but a gateway to favoritism. . . . It was me. That DM was me.

Once you are past the wards and sigils that guard the entranceway and have triggered the teleporter, you finally are brought to the archmage’s private sanctum. The Archmage’s Chambers are hidden away deep underground, below the “comfortable” levels of the underdark to an area where the stone walls seem to press in with relentless gravity and heat. Once a small node broken open by opposing...

Huh, maybe that's true it would be interesting to see some more recent numbers. Oh, totally, there was just as much junk in 3E's publishing glut as there is on the Sms Guild. No argument there!

Right, which is why WotC has worked on other options: don't like the 4E, try the Sun Soul, and alternate Ranger approaches are being considered. I don't think the Ranger will be completely righted until a 6E, frankly, when they can build it again for Core. For now, alternate Class features and Subclasses are being offered.
