This was very true for 4E, but based upon the direction of 5E they realized that was a mistake for the brand. However, in 5E I've seen the following games run: * FR set at the time of the original boxed set, using a 2nd edition module (Haunted Halls of Eveningstar). * Original Dragonlance Saga * Shackled City * Dark Sun (original adventure path) * A Middle Earth game (PCs had to...

That actually started in the 70s, not 80s. But if you don't think rampant sexism, homophobia, and transphobia was much worse then than now, then you either weren't old enough to remember, or haven't opened a history book. Many of those artists dressed androgynous or feminine, but god forbid if they ever actually came out as gay or trans. It was viewed as just an act on stage and that's how...

What is odd is that this spell as far as I understand to conserve a body from decomposing and increase timespan for resurrection. But IRL dead people did get coins on their eyes, sometimes in their mouth, the purpose was to pay the ferryman across the Styx river so absolutely contrary to the in game use, because as far as common lore goes the river Styx is the eternal border and once a dead...

Correct. Phasing Attack ignores armour SOAK, but with Withstanding enhancement of abjure fire is not armor SOAK. So the SOAK still applies. Also, you are correct on the second point, too; it doesn't overcome natural SOAK. It goes through armour, basically, and that's it.

Nothing in the spell suggests that they are, rather the opposite I would say. If your DM rules that the copper pieces have no value, then all you need is a focus, you can skip the copper. If your DM rules that they do have a value, then you need them and a focus will not help you. I don't think there is a situation where you would use both a focus and a material component here.

If someone casts a Displace Self on themselves to give them a Phasing Attack and then throws a Fire Orb, does it negate the SOAK from a previously cast Abjure Fire? I reread the description for Phasing Attack, and I don't think that it does, but I wanted to be sure. Also, I don't think it overcomes any natural SOAK? Thanks!

I don't care about the gender swapping, but I do have some issues with "natural" reincarnation (rather than the spell) and elves. I feel like that messes with a lot of the theme of elves. There is a huge amount of lore surrounding elvish afterlives, the risk of death and fear from going out into the wider world because natural death isn't an aspect of the race, etc.. As for elves reincarnating...

Generally, I feel like a quicker solution to solving short rest based classes not getting enough rests (and for whatever reason you desire not to change the rest constraints) is to instead triple the resources and restrict it to long rest recovery. So a Warlock doesn't have two spell slots per short rest, but rather 6 spell slots per long rest. It gives them a lot more nova potential, though,...

So proclaims the 2nd sentence of his description on p.106 of the 1e Deities & Demigods book, 1st printing (the one with Cthulu in it), 1980. Corellon being androgynous has been a publicly established fact for at least 38 years. Maybe longer if they wrote anything about him in early Dragon issues....

I figured there was probably more to them in Planescape, but what about other settings? Plus, 5E separated Yugoloths from Demons again, but also made them merely the rogue product of Asmodeus' commission to the Night Hags, so they don't even have their Planescape hook anymore. Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes also presents Oinoloths as just another kind of Yugoloth rather than a title.

You have to really look for reasons to include yugoloths, but they're there, though usually from the Mortal's end. Almost everything a Yugoloth is good for in the Blood War has some form of application in the Prime Material, though obviously a villain able to afford to command such creatures is no mere cultist.
