In my game, Asrabey came with the players to conftont the renegade fey lord and when Ekossigan told him the Ob had Kasvarina, he turned on them. Gale, Asrabey and Ekossigan came close to causing a TPK, and when the unit retreated they sacrificed the kiddies and le their army through the portal. It was a low point. Personally I think Ekossigan is doolally-tap and won't listen to reason.

I have to side with everyone else on this one. Your way(which is also my way) is just one way to roleplay. It's the only style where I can immerse myself into the game, so I enjoy it much more than the other methods. So does a narrator. It's just a different role. Heck, I've seen actors play roles where the character talks in third person. Are they not acting or playing a role?

Also expect to start about ten minutes late for the same reason; unless you're in the first block of the day in which case, start on time! :) Your adventure module also...

Well, see, with 4e at least, the mechanics are pretty clear. So I would consider this to be a mechanically significant change, and thus a little beyond reflavoring. I mean, you could argue for instance that an ability to hide your sword is on par with many feats, or many magical item properties. It could be a grey area in other games that are less precise, and I'd consider it a fairly minor perk...

My feeling is that it affords the players with an assurance that they are getting a result and that the stakes are controllable. In other words, in 3e/5e style play with unstructured use of skills there are no guarantees at all. Any particular effort you make may be enough to accomplish the goal, or it may be an almost meaninglessly insignificant increment towards the goal. It may not even be...

Otherwise getting an extra attack you can always add hunter's mark to is really strong. I agree with the drawing and sheathing. You should be able to do that without a feat. Well, the point (at least in XGtE) was that falling takes more time than is available in a single round (if done from a great enough height), and that a character who can fly might reasonably have a chance to resume flying or control their descent before they hit the ground from a great height. But, at a fundamental level, those rules are talking about movement with a set direction and...

    Here's how I would estimate the damage, with the appropriate fighting style Level 1 (18 stat): 2H = 12.3 (7 base + 4 state + 1.3 GWS) TWF = 15 (7 base + 4 stat + 4 TWFS) Level 5 (20 stat): 2H = 26.7 TWF = 25.5 Level 11:

Thank you. I usually go with the standard 250 days. Although any increases to HP, HD and Proficiency Modifier are automatic on the first day. I'm also willing to credit days for certain things. For example, if you're proficient in the Arcana skill and MC into Wizard, I'll usually credit the character 50 days to represent their having some existing training in the fundamentals.

Is insisting chess players at a tournament all play chess a form of "onetruefun"? Even if a checkers tournament is being put on by a different group just down the hall? No one on this thread as far as I know is saying EVERYONE has to play THEIR way. I posted the thread to begin with to seek advice on playing my way. Instead I am getting a running attack on my style of play and how I...

In a linear adventure, where there is no adventure but through the door, /forward/ would be more litteral. But, sure, more broadly, point taken. I rather like that one. I suppose that, with 5e, the penduulum has swung back to more DM-directed styles...

This is another example of terminology drift. "Fail forward" is a technique that was championed by certain indie designers. The 13th Age rulebook (p 42) describes it thus: A simple but powerful improvement you can make to your game is to redefine failure as “things go wrong” instead of “the PC isn’t good enough.” Ron Edwards, Luke Crane, and other indie RPG designers have championed this...

Add some formal downtime-day requirement and that sounds like a perfectly reasonable alternative to the stat preq.
