We have three so far in 5E: Wood Elves, Sea Elves, and Subterranean Elves (Drow.) By legacy from previous editions we have Valley Elves, like, from Greyhawk, gag me with a spoon. High Elves get High in Grassland. WotC will publish rules for Desert Elves as soon as they acquire rights to Frank Herbert's "Dune".

THULWAR/ICOSA Ulisses' attitudes take a turn as he listens to the report on the incidents, as well as the questions so directly posed by Thulwar. "We call things by their names, emissary." - he says emphatically almost as if excusing himself in a humorous tone. "I am sure you can understand the need for simplicity around certain aspects of advanced science, since your own descriptors are...

I am not aware of any dinosaurs changing gender in Jurassic Park. So far as I know, they all had female anatomical sex; none of them had gender *roles* linked to their anatomical sex, such as a bow in their hair (which is how you can tell Pac-Man from Ms. Pac-Man). Some of them laid eggs, presumably through parthogenesis. None of them became anatomically male, and none of them acquired male-coded...

Actually, as atated, i did go for it with all static npc scores for quite some time with good redults and more player focus without a hitch so, thanks i guess for that vote of confidence. :-) At its core, players do in my experience tend to enjoy being the active element in the determination of success fail, more than the passive.

If you don't have advantage (remember, Vow of Enmity gives you advantage against one foe for a minute per short rest, you most often won't have advantage), then Great Weapon Master isn't adding much damage. Let's say you're at level 4, attacking a target with an AC of 16, and your bonus to hit is +5 (2 from Proficiency and 3 from Strength). You have to roll an 11 or higher to hit, which you have...

I am starting to think that some people, Yaarel included, do not know what the definition of monotheism is. It is not that a person follows and worships only one god, it is that a person not only worships only one god, but also believes on their god is real. In a fantasy setting, like the Realms or other standard fantasy settings, where multiple gods exist and their powers are manifest in the...

I feel like Divine Smite is too powerful an ability to give up. Spending a first-level spell slot on 4d8 = 18 damage, as many times as you want per turn, scaling with higher level slots, for 2 levels seems too attractive not to have. Compared to a Superiority dice, which at this level will deal 2d10 = 11 damage and you only get 5.

Yeah that's my point. The rule is not about balance. It was never about balance and it doesn't address any balance issues that were not already there with just Core+1. It's a rule purely about giving players a sense they are not overwhelmed by the books and/or falling behind if they don't buy them all. I really don't buy this claim that it's a balance themed rule.

Then go for it, make every roll opposed and see how long and slow your combats become. Or, remove all opposed rolls and replace with passives. Neither are going to break the mechanics. The way it is now is a compromise.
