Agreed. I love learning new things and seeing how others do things, and I sometimes test out some things from here in my games to see how they are received. I may argue hard, but don't think that it means that I don't take things in. Thank you for engaging in these discussions with me. :)

I already knew that. I have no problem with you ruling however you wish and don’t need you to rule like me. I agree with you about events in each round being roughly simultaneous. To me, turn-order is about the order in which actions are resolved, and really only when it matters. I think we’re on the same page here. You don’t have to keep posting responses, you know.

Here's a hint: it's a tie-in to the fact that Ravnica is also getting a new expansion later this year: "Guilds of Ravnica". As an MTG lover and D&D lover...not sure if I'm excited or not.

1000gp seem really too much. In 3rd edition cost of 2nd level spell to be casted was 60gp, plus any costly material components. I don't see why it would be much different in 5th edition. Unless you are going for low-magic setting. That is of the shelf price. No bargaining, no contract. 3rd level wizard can cast 3 2nd level spells per day(with arcane recovery). If a town or a city takes...

Large cities might have lamplighters who make sure that main thoroughfares are well lit, but smaller cities probably just have torchbearers for hire. Palaces may have empty hallways lit, but only the very rich would bother with such a thing, and so they may find continual flames to be a viable alternative. Something else to consider is that people generally didn't stay awake long after dark....

Seems like a cool setting but it seems weird that this would be the first step out of the Realms. I mean, it makes a ton of sense from the corporate Hasbro side of things, getting the most out of their IP, and trying to bring over fans of one game into another to increase the player base. This could have been the result of a corporate mandate to release a cross over title this year, with...

Each player must decide each encounter how to ration their...

This would not match how D&D usually does it, where material cost is usually 1/3 to 1/2 of final costs. And 1 in 1000 is not that rare. The most common craftsmen in the medieval era (based on some survey from the 1300s found) was cobbler (ie shoe maker), and it was about 1/150. So for every 7 shoe makers, you have a wizard (or cleric...) able of doing this. And unlike shoes, which wear...

As for your second question, I did the math in my post! As far as the first one goes... typically it would be "double base cost" (so 100 gp) but there may be competition so it may be less than that. Theft of continual flamed items may be a problem, so it could be that the spell tends to be used on "unique" items. For example - a stick of apple wood with "PROPRETI OF SMIT FAMLY" engraved on...

Remember the "cost" for someone to cast a spell is never just the cost of the components. The material cost of a light bulb might be 10cents, but the supplier needs to pay for overhead, wages, distribution, loans, etc - all before even thinking about profit, which is why that light bulb might cost $2.50. The "cost of material" for any business can be anywhere from 1% - 90%, before even...

Yes. Do they? This is from the 2e Monstrous Manual "Dragon Flight: Despite their large size, dragons are graceful and competent fliers; most are maneuverability class C. This is due partially to their powerful wings, and partially to the dragon's innate magic. Dragons can climb at half speed and dive at double speed." So it seems dragons do use magical assistance to fly.

Emudre looks at Kuvarious. "Who told you those things!?" she says furiously. "Whoever it was, I am certain they were wrong! No, although I may disagree with you on many things, I don't think of you that way. If society has told you those things they're wrong! You are not bound by your ancestry, your appearance or the position of your birth!" She pauses to catch her breath, and then...

Actually, about that last one I mentioned as looking good, bought it yesterday and is awesome! 290-ish pages of gear, armaments, mounts and vehicles, trade items, animals and other goods for sale. Well worth a look in my opinion!

Well, it’s all a product of the imagination, so I don’t know what artificial is supposed to mean in this context. Am I supposed to believe that your approach is more natural because it more consistently utilizes turn-based movement? Nevertheless, what seems “artificial“ to me about your approach isn’t the hang-time. I’ve already said several times I have no problem with that. It’s the granting...

Kanglin sniffs at the thought that he wouldn't give threats. That's like asking a fish not to drink water. As for his brother's men, "Do with 'em what ye will. Just make sure ye get the best treasure first." Once underwater, the world changes from a dull 2 dimensions, to 3 vibrant dimensions, filled with life. The group swims straight down to the sea floor, far enough that someone on the...

The sun is beginning to rise, and the group is whole once more. Currently, the only clue to be had leads to the Hercule mansion, which is where you were going to begin with. There is also a Blacksmith, a General Store, an Alchemist and a Jeweler in town. You may visit any of these places.

Howdy folks! For anybody who's interested - I added tiers 5+ and 6+ to The Superverse Kickstarter. These tiers give access to a reprint of the classic (1st edition SUPERS!) version of the Superverse + 1st edition stats and 1st edition style art (from Russ Boyd) for the new characters (heroes and villains) appearing in the current edition of the rules. Also, tier 7 includes everything plus...

Today is update day! Spoilers abound for books 6 and 7! First the sad news. I was forced to disband my newer group. The availability of all five players was so limited that we met about once every 4-6 weeks. We got a couple sessions into book 2 when I called it. It was unfortunate, but that's life. My other group is trucking along just fine, though progress has been a little slow...

I am not familiar with PHP, unfortunately. I am however familiar with programming in general. I can tell you that this is probably not how you want to implement the skills in the long run, since it will be error-prone and hard to work with in the long run. Use Key Value pairs. I am not familiar with PHP, as mentioned, but a brief look here: http://php.net/manual/en/language.types.array.php ...

The fire washes over the deck, and the three Wights scream as their bodies fail them, falling into ash, with bits and pieces surviving the flames to be charred husks. The Revenant takes the brunt of the blast, his skin blackened and charred, but he is still able to attack. The crew is now a skeleton crew...no pun intended. They have enough skeletal minions to run the ship, but only just....

Some people like gambling. Some people avoid gambling. Most are in the middle somewhere. Being far closer to the "avoid" side of the spectrum, IMO gambling isn't the universal sales point you portray above. Over the decades I've been involved with RPGs, it's clear to me that some people love taking risks, while others are risk-adverse and keep looking for the safer, lower-risk path. It's...

It recharges 2d6 per long rest. Can use use the pool to do a 5' burst of fire damage (dex save for half, dc 13-15 or so) doing 1/2 the dice pool used as dice of damage (6d6 used does 3d6 damage eg). Best: Ravenloft boxed set. Still sets the imagination on fire with gothic horror story ideas even now. Worst: PF Mythic. Too much to complain about poorly balanced and barely playtested. Felt like a Hardback money grab how bad it was.
