Because a curse isn't a pact, and an entity would have no reason to give power to someone bargaining at a disadvantage. Also using the example of fiends, they can't force someone down the path of damnation, they have to be willing participants. A fiend's job is to try and get you to ruin your soul without having to give you power. An idiot trying to deal with a devil will lose his soul and...

Additional thoughts: Maintaining a ritual for hours at a time wouldn't be easy. Does a Concentration check seem appropriate? DC = 15 + Spell Level + 1 per hour spent in ritual? What happens when someone fails? Simple failure, or should there be some kind of backlash? Backlash sounds delightfully cinematic, but I'm not sure how to adjudicate it. Probably something best defined by the...

I played an engineer in our last big campaign. It was a lot of fun, but I had to do some significant reworks to the class first. This isn't how you balance AOE damage. At 5th level for the character (equivalent to a 3rd level spell), the target AOE damage value should be 19.5, which is somewhere between 4d8 and 6d6, or 3d12 for an exact value. That's higher than what you've granted...

I wonder if you could make an argument that in some ways Ragnarok and Black Panther fit together thematically. Black Panther references what might have been possible without colonialism. Ragnarok can be read as covering up the "unpleasant" bits of a colonial past.

This should be super easy to achieve. Just rule that anything that a character with Extra Attack could do in place of a single attack when they take the Attack Action (such as attempting a grapple, shoving a creature, disarming a creature if you’re using that option from the DMG, etc.) can also be done in place of an Opportunity Attack.

Millennium End's Silhouette system. You put a clear overlay over a target depending on weapon you use and then roll percentages for your skill with the weapon. It absolutely has bearing. Because the DM can, and is encouraged, to punish the paladin for not being Lawful Good. This means that you have to play YOUR character how the DM thinks he should be played. If there is disconnect between what Lawful or Good means for two parties (and I think this is an undeniable fact at this point) this causes more issues for paladins than the Lawful Good fighter,...

A quick summary of stunts in AGE: The basic roll mechanic is 3d6, which functions much like a d20 roll in the d20 system. One of the three dice is a different color, but it's still counted the same as the others. It's only special if you happen to roll doubles. If any two of your dice come up as the same number - if you roll 3,3,5 for example - then you earn a number of stunt points equal...

I could never run the game the way to OP does with zero physical impacts. My preference is the opposite. If an attack roll is a hit, I will always describe it as a hit of some kind, even if it just bangs into your armour and causes pain, or a bruise, or scrape, or cut or whatever. Little bangs and nicks until half hp - at which point I like the bloodied rule - it's a decent cut or gash or hammer...

I would be a little wary of introducing unlimited reactions that have a good chance to let a character negate attacks, like the pillar idea. Which is exactly why earlier versions of the class had codified rules about what is and is-not acceptable behavior. A paladin will never use poison, not because there's never a situation where doing so would be the lesser of two evils, but because admitting that such situations could exist would open the flood-gates to flouting the expectations entirely. If you don't say that a paladin will never...
