    As I wrote in my post, "many spells scale up", "a lot don't". It currently is implicit. My point is if you don't like it, don't allow it. Scaling for spells is hardly essential to enjoyment of the game. If you want a more powerful spell, cast a different spell. :)

    The book gives an in depth dive into each of the ten guilds which are really the lifeblood of the setting.     You might want to look at the "Extra Attack" ability in the PHB... Lets do some comparisons, shall we:- Chromatic Orb, level 1 slot: 13.5 hp per round, doesn't scale.     That’s quite a bit more helpful. Thank you. Maybe because that isn’t actually what I’m saying. I’m not claiming a level 1 spell slot is worse than a cantrip. In fact there’s many spells a level 1 slot could be used on that I would consider to be much better than a cantrip. I’ve admitted this many times in the thread. I agree.     The typical meaning behind fighter attacks "scaling" is referring to the gaining of an extra attack at 5th, 11th etc - same tier time cantrips gain extra dice. Since the fighter attacks include the ability score (also tends to tise) as freebie, its value improves by more hits and more dmg while cantrips typically only scale by raw dice - few exceptions exist of course.

    LOL how will this happen? So far unless a fighter employs some other ability, their damage never scales up. My players and I have found this to be a weakness and are trying to find a houserule for it. So, if there is something I am missing from this point, PLEASE let me know!     I think, really, a better question, is why allow spells to scale up at all? Many spells scale up when using higher level slots, but a lot don't and offer no additional effect.     There is a reason 5e doesn't refer to cantrips as "level 0 spells". It's because they are not. They are intended to be equivalent to a fighter's basic weapon attack. A fighter basic attack (and unlimited resource) will outstrip 1st level damage spells even faster than cantrips will, so if you nerf cantrips you would need to nerf fighters as well.

    I managed to make my "falling" issues interesting by giving players a turn to react to it (if outside combat). For example my Warlock was about to fall down which would have been deadly, but I told him he still has 6 seconds to react and asked if he wants to do something. He then had the idea to cast Eldritch Blast (with Repelling Blast) on himself to knock him back to solid ground.

    Its late here but a quick skim. Looks great you have formatted it really well. Mechanics wise you have probably obsoleted the fighter. 3 attacks at the same rate, most abilities at level 1 or 2 better and the strength based archer thing is probably to good as it lets you have a good AC and key everything off strength (a dex based archer AC 15 vs 17 once you get the best medium armor)....

    True. I found the theme music at the start to be a bigger break in cannon than anything they did later on Discovery, but I think I'm getting a little off topic. Besides, if we're going to try something based on the works of Scott Bakula, a Quantum Leap - plane hopping campaign is probably a better way to go. :p

    My guess for that "something else" would be Harry Potter - the first film in that series hit in 2001, between TPM and AotC. Of course, JKR is now running into trouble with her own set of prequels. Maybe in twenty years Disney will buy that IP, too?
