It allows you to search the
messageboards, send and receive private messages, give yourself a
custom usertitle, turn ads on or off, create a custom style for your
profile, get a nifty badge under your username, and gives you a special
warm glowy feeling! Oh, and it gets rid of this annoying message, too!
I figured I owed this to everyone and I'm glad to do it:
This thread is a place where anyone can come to me as the leader/founder of the GMF and tell me your suggestions/complaints or even ask for DMing advise personally from me. I wouldn't object to any member of the counsil having a thread like this as well. i can then be a liason from you guys to the cousil without having to clutter the counsil thread with tons of suggestions and petitions and such. So here I am, your founder and leader let loose the flames of chaos. (change )

You opened the thread in the ENworld General Thread after moving operations from the Wizards boards do to, ah, shall we say some difficulties on their part. But I seem to remember it being mentioned that that thread had been originally started elsewhere and moved there. So what and where was the actual genesis of the DMF? And as a follow up: What possessed you to start the DMF in the first place?

Thats where I found it. I'd been browsing the boards when I found the foundation. I read threw it, decided to join, and followed the link to it that BigSis had left on the thread. I found it at the guild house, and was something like the sixth or seventh person to join. But the entire foundation got really big, even while we were still on the WotC boards. But you gotta' congratulate CE on how massive this things gotten, 40-something members!

Here is an excerpt from a little thread I had going at the WotC boards called the DMFAC (Dungoen Master Artifact Corner):
The DMF was created by ChaosEvoker on October, 25th, 2004 at 10:32 AM. It was the Idea Of ChaosEvoker and Xen155 during 2nd hour Computer Programing class. After several days of posting and rapid growth, the Moderator WizO BigSister decided to move the DMF to the Guild House were it remains. The original DMF can be found here.
This is of course out of date, but it is accurate as to when and where the DMF began.
Why it was created?
Me and CE were bored in class one day, so I showed him the WotC boards. CE took to them fast and decided to create a foundation. We decided on the Dungeon Masters Foundation or DMF. After drawing up the first post and thinking about what we wanted the DMF to actually involve CE posted it at the Forgotten Realms People and Places forum. Im not sure why CE thought it was such a great Idea, but my reason was cuase it just sounded cool.

Partially it was justcause I thought it was cool. I am a DM though. There are times when I want to bitch (pardon my French) about the PCs and their antcis. There ar etimes when I'm out of ideas or just want to laugh with some fellow DMs. This seemed like the perfect way to find other DMs who sympathize. So far it has been great for all these reasons. I always feel good when I post here because I am welcomed and sympathized with. So far it has fullfilled its orginal purpose and beyond. I couldn't be more proud or amazed with the GMF.
