Glad to Be DM'ing Again!

Well, for those of you who followed my posts in a few other threads (including the DMF mk. II thread) in the General RPG Discussion forum, I thought I would give an update.

We restarted my campaign on Monday night. Things went very well. We did not really have a consistent sense of focus, but it was kind of like a "first session" for a group since we had not played together in about 6 weeks. We were like a bunch of kids on their first day back to school after summer break I guess, catching up with all the friends we didn't see over the summer. There were some great in game moments though.

As you know, some pretty acute (or is that chronic?) player problems caused me to walk away from the game for a time and do a great deal of soul searching. I think that it really helped to examine my own gaming preferences and redefine my DM'ing style. We are also now without our three youngest members (see my "Generation Gap in Gaming" thread over in General) and have added a new member to the group.

In short, the atmosphere was great. There was definitely more of a spirit of cooperation at the table. Also, I think the hiatus made us all appreciate and value our gaming time more. I have made the campaign less generic and more distinctively Greyhawk (no, that is not a contradictory statement). I think ENWORLD and the DMF/GMF have helped me become a better DM/GM (definitely possible even after 23 years behind the screen) and given me some perspective I was lacking. I feel even more strongly that we cannot game in a vacuum. It is important to stay abreast of what is going on in the greater gaming community and lend support to others and to the hobby itself (and also to receive support from others when necessary).

So, my thanks to Nightcloak and all of the others who gave advice, threw out ideas and even just read my posts and listened to me complain about my players. I am glad to be back behind the screen. Here's to many more years in the "comfy chair!"

Now that is just great! I am incredibly happy for you.

Not only did you get your game back but you got your game back.

I don't know what else to say for the moment, but...

@LMK:

Spoiler:
Your sig needs "Or Else." added to the end of it. "Try it. Now. Or Else."

I can't wait for somebody to design a GMF banner we can use as a sig!

Thanks NC and LMK for your support!

I would offer my support Mr. Wolf but you havn't filled out the propper support requisition papers. So the best I can offer is an unofficial and Formal congrats. (Don't tell my Director.)
I also noticed that section 3-A of the thread creation papers were only signed in triplicate, you know the rules Mr. Wolf.

Spoiler:

Congrats Wolf and good luck with your future games!.
