Ads for sale on RPGNow.com

I have been thinking about adding a category to RPGNow.com that would allow you to purchase ad space (hopefully at a discount) from other websites. We process the order and submit it to our partners to get your ad displayed in rotation on their sites. RPG.NET does this in their mall and it seems rather popular and simple for the advertiser to do. Would any publishers out there be interested in a category on RPGNow.com that lists 5 or 10 sites that you can buy banners on?

At the very least, would anyone like to see the ability to purchase RPGHost Network bannerd directly from RPGNow?

James

P.S. If you're a site owner with decent traffic and are interested in this, please let me know also.

That'd be great James; both for RPGHost and other websites. I would definitely make use of it. I was really pleased with RPGNet's convenient sytem for taking the ad order. Now if only they'd actually allow me to post the ads...

Which is something you might want to keep in mind; if a site sells ads through you and *they* are slow at getting around to posting the ads or setting up the account you might be the one that has to put up with the mean e-mails. Some sort of system to help move the customer smoothly and quickly from purchase to ad placement could really make this service take off.

Ack, I posted this in the wrong forum... Maybe someone can move it to the d20 Publishers forum? Please

The main hardship in selling ads is getting the publishers interested and trusting and willing to spend... you have to sell yourself. If there is a group well known sites selling ads trhough RPGNow, we'd basically sell for you. Think of us as just an aditional sales agent. You still own your own inventory of ads space.

As a site operator, you probably don't have the time to market your ads- but that's exactly what this will give you - more time. You don't have to go fishing for advertisers on a regular basis as we'll help find them for you. All we do is send you an email telling you that so and so purchased X ad displays for your site.

We don't take ownership of your site ads or anything like that. We just act as a store front that vendors could go shopping for some promotion deals.

As a soon to be publisher of d20 pdf's (several in development and playtesting now), this is sounds like a good idea. I may be more open to the idea than the average person given that I work for a media company that makes the majority of its money from print and online advertising (mid-sized newspaper, book, and internet publishing company with international distribution).
