I always had a feeling he is not going to put Scouring of the Shire in. It deviates from the standard there-and-back-again formula of fantasy. In my oppinion it is one of the key parts of the book as it shows how the hobbit members of the party have "grown up" in the world. More than anything I have heard so far this is going to hurt the movie...
