Not exactly paying gigs... but I thought I'd post this here in case there were people interested. We'll offer you big RPGShop discounts and you can usually get free stuff from publishers for running a good site. Anyway...
I have a number of great domain names and some good ideas... but no time to implement. I also have some finished sites that are in need of webmasters to update / maintain the sites (or take them to new levels). Anyway, if you're interested (seriously and not just for a month or two) in working on any of these sites, let me know.
Anyone know what happened to the people who ran: www.electronicd20.com
I actually own that domain and they haven't been around in about a year. Maybe someone could take over for them?
If any of these interest you and you can use FTP and run a site without a lot of supervision, let me know.
All the sites are un Linux with PHP and MYSQL... not all use mysql, but the mostly all use php in some form. It's simple to use/write... see www.php.net
James
P.S. I'm not against buying a new domain for any great new ideas.
I sent you an e-mail last night regarding game-universe.com but haven't received a response yet. Given that my e-mail provider sometimes goes on the fritz, I just wanted to confirm that you received the message - it would've come from Samantha Lease, S-Lease@cornellcollege.edu.
Obviously, if you have received it and you're simply taking the time to look it over and respond, that's fine - I'd just want to be sure my e-mail reached you.

Well it's more complicated then that One of my employees is on vactation and I'm stuck working the warehouse this week. So your email as at my home and not here at the warehouse so I can't respond.
I'm also waiting a bit before commitments as game-universe.com seems to be what most people responding are interested in. One person suggested running a RP forum that has levels and stores and equipment and all that... I've seen the hacks to do this, kind of a need idea. I donno...
Ok - if you could just let me know if you spot the message when you get a chance to look at your home computer, I'd appreciate it. It's not just a matter of this incident; I'm trying to keep track of all the problems I have with my e-mail in what may be a futile attempt to pinpoint its weaknesses and work around them.
Also, the idea I proposed could probably go under another domain - even an entirely new one if you felt it had that kind of merit. I expect you're getting a lot of proposals for game-universe.com simply because that existing domain name offers the most flexibility. So if it'd be easier on you if I just said "look, I'll put this anywhere you like"...well, look, I'll put this anywhere you like.

Well, I tried to get RPGd20.com off of you, but I guess that fell through because of my lack of Microsoft Access :P
However, I am interested in RPGWriter.com.

The RPGd20.com site could be converted to PHP/MYSQL but someone who knows what they are doing would have to be involved in that. I can covert the data but I don't have much time to do the re-writes of the reports.
RPGWriter already has 3 people interested. Jeff Quin was one that I said could run it, but you're all welcome to work together to make it a decent site. I'm open to multiple co-sysops.
Releated to the work mentioned above, I have a campaign world that needs to be converted from .DOC word files and misc Art .jpg files into a nice presentable HTML set of files. No need to overly hyperlink, just have to split up by chapters.
So, I need someone with a bit of HTML talent and maybe a HTML design program and MS Office to work on this. You can save the .DOC files as HTML and work from there in an HTML editor...
Anyway, I'd prefer to pay in barter/trade of ad banners on RPGHost Network or a 40% discounted order from RPGShop.com
Please let me know if you're interested and what talents you have in this area (like an example website).
Releated to this same project we are also looking for some basic staff to help finish the development of a unique forum based RPG environment. Maybe one or two other people to help with doing all the graphics for the game itself (icons and avatars and such). And another coder probably wouldn't hurt; maybe someone who isn't necessarily into RPGs/games, but is a master of PHP and/or vBulletin Hacks. Eventaully we'll also need some Moderators for the game. (More later)
Are you looking for pure html conversion and linking or would using php and a mysql database for easier modifying/editing/adding on be something you would like?
Also on topic sorta with this thread, I had planed on doing a rpg site ring sorta like you are doing with rpghost and all the sites you listed in your first post in this thread using a web hosting service I started up to help pay for it all but maybe if I directed my energy towards helping with your 'site ring' might be better, no reason to be duplicating and butting heads doing the same stuff.
Anyhow I would love to help with the campaign world conversion to web format as everything I have planned for my network ring is on hold now till the web hosting starts making some money.
Maybe later we can discuss further involvement with the other projects you got going.
I'll send you a email about the campaign world format conversion.

I would be interested in converting the current database from access into mysql and helping convert the site into something easier to view/search than it is now, then it would be just a matter of the person who wishes to run with it to be able to code in php and then they could just use one of the mysql web browser interfaces for messing with the database. Might be able to do something up which is all web browser admin'able except leaving just the site look/template requiring actual php/html coding knowledge.
Just looking over this thread - if anyone is interested in taking over/remaking/starting anew with www.d20gaming.net, I can host the domain and all...I had/have a site there, but without enough time to keep it active enough to grow.
If anyone is interested, send me an email - arador[at]d20gaming.net ([at]=@)

Just a quick update, I have managed to find a good use for the game-universe.com domain Got some pictures (in the gallery) of the brick and mortar store we have named Game Universe!
Looks great, James! Having spent a number of years in Retail Merchandising, I can safely say you have a very attractive, shoppable layout!
Franchising yet?
Kudos!

I'll second that! I'd kill to live near a good game store like
that picture depicts. Damn miserable Florida sun, making
people go outside instead of gaming...

Hey Ike.
I don't think it's so much the sun as it is the high cost of real estate in South Florida. In order to have a store that size anywhere in Miami, Broward or Palm Beach (that is, that is not in the middle of Podunk City) your last name better be Estefan, if you know what I mean.
That's why Orlando can have Sci-Fi City, and we in Miami are stuck with the wonderful places we know and love.

Still, I agree, it would be nice.
Understood Daniel, the sun is just easier to blame and no one gets hurt.
And tell me about real estate, I only RENT an apartment and hand over
TWO of our FOUR paychecks a month to cover it,...and we both have decent
paying jobs!
edit: PS Email Dan, at your conveinance (SP? can't frickin' spell in the morning)
