[4E FR] Loudwater 3D Map

Hi folks,

Ive been working on a 3D map of Loudwater (see 4E FR Campaign Guide pg.13), which I thought I'd share with you. It really makes a difference seeing a town in 3 dimensions ;-)

Thanks, Mall.

look snice

nice clean and straight forward 3D renders. Did you do that with Google Sketchup?

Yes I did. Great program.

I used to use StudioMax years ago, but Sketchup is so quick for basic models (and fun to use).

I did the screenies with textured display off (only base colours), as if you don't use the right textures the texture repeats really detract from the image.

I felt that less was more in this instance. its better to have something that looks easy to see than clustered in detail (maps are supposed to be easy to read after all)

Thanks, Mall.

Holy crow, that looks nice. I have used SketchUp to make a few dungeon maps for my campaign (nothing with the vast scope and details like your maps), but they looked too mechanical for my taste. Then I noticed the more hand-drawn line quality in your maps. I had never messed around with the Styles palette before to alter the line quality. Much more suitable for D&D.

Great work.

Yeh the styles allow you to give it a more 'D&D' feel

Wow, that looks really good. And one could take those basic renders into Photohop and apply textures and whatnot to make a complete scene!
